May 17, 200620 yr I agree that it is somewhat of a loss but I don't think its a big deal. He was the leading tackler last year for one reason - the front 7 did not get it done. If they front 7 improves, UK will be better even without this kid. If the front 7 does not improve, it doesn't matter who is back there.

I do think that the front seven will be much improved. They couldn't get much worse, could they? There is still some talent in the secondary. I feel that the Cats will be more middle of the pack on D in the SEC.
May 17, 200620 yr Bo Smith, was considered one of UK's most solid tacklers, AND one of the better individual cover guys. It leves a hole, remember this is a senior that is being dismissed.

I'd say he goes the NAIA route so he can get on the field as soon as possible. It seems like I remember him flirting with the idea of entering the draft this past year.....for what reason I don't know, but I think he is anxious to test THE league's waters.
May 18, 200620 yr It may seem selfish for me but in a sense it makes me a little happy. I mean I hate to see him go because he wa sa good ball player and you hate to wish bad on anybod. But I am glad in the sense that this may give David Jones more experience. H was backup for Smith last year.

May 19, 200620 yr Can I get a count of players dismissed in the last three years??? I do not know either but I believe that Brooks is running a tight ship. I much rather see players being dismissed than infractions down the road. Preferably, I would like to see student-athletes make the right choices but we know how that is.
