I cannot confirm...I know who he is but I cannot speak to his experience as a coach let alone varsity basketball coaching experience.

 

No offense to him because he seems like a nice enough guy but he fits into the same mold as the "grade school coach" who told me he was asked by a board member.....just not qualified....and I don't even think this guy you are referring to coaches grade school. This would definitely be a "good ole boy" hire if it is true and he doesnt have any experience.

 

He may have a teaching degree and in the running for a job at the school and is seeking an opportunity to coach so before I totally rule him out I want to preface that I don't know where he is in his career.

You know what, you're right. Let me rephrase this. Any person on planet earth can be in the running for this job and this is why. The job's not even posted yet. Nick Wilson could very well be the coach and if so, this is why. No one in their right mind with coaching experience that doesn't live in Bellevue will put in for that job. Like most have stated, they need a "Tiger" to put in for it for multiple reasons. Not sure if that makes the right coach or not but it will make some in the city happy.

Now, I'm not sure what their Board policy is on posting jobs, whether it's 30 days, 15 days, 0 days...etc. What I do know is that when Wolfzorn was hired, the job was posted in late April. There was some "turmoil" and Wolfzorn was not named until June 20ish. Now, most camps are over by then. You can't get brochures to the elementary schools, you can't meet with the kids that aren't there. Now, if this principal is going to wait until this dies down, qryche11 may be exactly right. They may get someone with youth basketball experience only. If Swauger comes back, it may be the only way to save face. If he doesn't, I feel bad for those kids. They were let down by their "leader".

Well, props to him.....I can't say I remember reading his name in the boxscores and I typically peruse local college basketball box scores...and have for several years...

 

It doesnt matter... I think BHS needs to get someone with coaching experience as well as community ties....just simply getting a "good" guy with minimal college b-ball experience probably would not be a good move for long term..

KY state rules/laws say that a teaching position must be posted for 30 days before it can be filled.

For a coaching position, that time frame is, I think, 15 days. I will check on that for sure.

I dont know the rules but I have a verrrrrrrrrrrrry good source I work with that states her brother was asked to be the JV coach at a local high school and she said they dont even post the jobs. Its a catholic school by the way and a very good program.

That's true for private schools. NCC didn't even post the head boys position, they just gave it to Brannen. Not sure about publics, though.

Teaching is 30 days. I know that from my days on site-base and the silly consultation meetings after the 30 days were up.

 

Coaching is 10 days.

 

That is posted and they can take as long as they wish. They can interview but must advertise/post for 10 days. If the time is withing a certain time frame of the first day of school, I am thinking it is 30 days, than they can apply to the state for a waiver. For example, date is August 6 and school starts August 10th, they get a waiver from the state and can hire the next day.

 

They cannot technically/legally offer the job until the 30 (for teaching) or 10(for coaching) days are up. But here is how the conversation goes.....

 

I have to post this job till (pick a date) at that time, I will be calling you to offer you the job at that time. Yes, you have the job but I cannot officially offer it till (same date as above.)
