Don't think Frank ever made it to the show.

No, unfortunately he was a phone call away from the Major Leagues and got totally ripped off when the GM of the Mets made a political move and didnt call him up but some other chump. He was jacking the ball in Triple AAA from what I remember and this is a story I have heard from folks very close to fRank. He was probably the best athlete I have ever watched play High School sports though.....unbelievable and still in great shape.

Mike Murphy - Covington Holmes - QB LA Rams

Murph looks today like he could still make an NFL team. As opposed to several of his former players on here who look more qualified to be on the all- Sumo wrestling team.

Is this the same Mike Murphy who coached at Highlands in late 60's and Newport during 70's?

Yes although he was the head coach at Highlands until 1973 which is when he went to Newport. Did good things there as head coach and then went to Boone County as an assistant to Owen Hauck. He held a lot of the UC passing records until Greg Cook came along.

sticky, Do you know of a guy by the name of John Turner, played for Newport and I have been told he went on to play in the Pro's (basketball)

John Turner was a tremendous high school basketball player and probably Newports best. I believe he went on to play at Louisville but I am uncertain if he played professionally.

What schools in NKY have alum that played in the MLB, NFL, or NBA?

Off the top of my head:

Holmes: Leo Foster

Dixie: Mark Pike

Bellevue: Did Walt Terrell graduate from Bellevue?

Boone Co. : Shaun Alexander, Irv Goode

Conner: Jason Johnson

CCH: Bob Naber

Highlands: Marty Moore

Scott: Doug Pelfrey

NCC: Dave Cowens

Who am I missing?

The CBA when it was still a league that mattered, Holy Cross Alum Turky Jones played.

Most successfull professional athlete had to be Dave Cowens.......anyone know of any other ones?

I remember John and his son Jerry (aka Moose). Jerry was also a very good athlete.

When did the CBA start? Turkey Jones played at HC in the mid-70s.

Derrick Smith from Highlands was on the Bengals practice squad for a couple years.

Eddie Eviston from NCC was signed to the Kansas City chiefs and later released. He is now with the IAFL Lexington Horseman.

Brett Dietz from Cov. Cath is with the Louiville IAFL team too if that counts.

Both are doing pretty well on that level.

All true - they don't make the CSHS81 list, though.

I'd say Eddie may get another opportunity at some point if he keeps on winning and playing the way he has.

To summarize our list by school so far:

Holmes: Leo Foster, Bob Barton

Dixie: Mark Pike, Larry Schrieber

Bellevue: Bob Dougherty

Dayton: A. Murray

Boone County: Shaun Alexander, Irv Goode, John Shannon

Conner: Jason Johnson

CCH: Bob Naber, Dan Tiemen

Highlands: Marty Moore, Jared Lorenzon, Jerry Reynolds, Mike McGraw, Jeff Kremer, Chuck Kyle

Lloyd: Billy Lyon, Chris Hook, Jeoff Long

NCC: Dave Cowens, Jeff Brady, Scott Wiggins, Larry Staverman

Latin: David Justice

Beechwood: Brandon Berger

Covington Grant: Tom Thacker

SK - Webster - went to UK and I think picked up by Washington

Lloyd - Kunkle ?? Not sure on the spelling - UK - went to Atlanta

Both " O " LINE

Webby never made a roster, actually Tony Brackens ended his NFL dream by ripping out his shoulder.
