July 17, 201511 yr First off, where in the title do you see Oklahoma? Thanks to either spell check or typing on my iPhone, it does not say Oklahoma Where did this happen? Oklahoma! Did the state actually greet him this way? The STATE? No! Did people IN the state greet him this way? Yes! The state did nothing, just as when messed up people in Ky do things that is an embarrassed we say "why do they have to be from Kentucky?" Or, again, when we hear of stuff like this we say "please don't be from Kentucky". The fact remains, that IN Oklahoma, racists greeted the president with a racists flag. Kind of odd that someone thinks that what you mentioned could be as bad a racists. I'm thankful this wasn't in Kentucky. I was respectfully ignoring your misspelling of Oklahoma. A handful of people greeted him that way. Oklahoma didn't greet him that way. Your title and another poster suggests otherwise. Painting an entire state as racist based on the acts of a few is as bad as what they did.
July 17, 201511 yr Painting an entire state as racist based on the acts of a few is as bad as what they did. Maybe so, but I can live with it. When you greet the President of the United States with racist symbols, I'm going to judge you and everyone that allows it to happen. Side thought: How is that any different than the long list of posters on this very site that paint all Muslims as terrorists because of the actions of a few? Doesn't seem like to many people get up in arms when that happens. :idunno:
July 17, 201511 yr 1. That's as deplorable as what they did. 2. Someone else did it and that makes it right?
July 17, 201511 yr Also UKMustangFan, what are the people there supposed to do to stop them from demonstrating, violate their rights as ignorant as they may be?
July 17, 201511 yr Also UKMustangFan, what are the people there supposed to do to stop them from demonstrating, violate their rights as ignorant as they may be? Officials should have made them leave or taken the flags. I know when President Bush visited NKU years back they made people leave or confiscated disparaging signs.

I won't disagree with that, however people have a right to protest and unfortunately a lot of idiots protest. But that doesn't make the state of Oklahoma racist or all of the people there racist.
July 17, 201511 yr So be it. :idunno: That's fine and all but remember by your logic the racist things that people do and say in Kentucky make you every bit as bad as them. That's how that comes across whether you see it or not.

July 17, 201511 yr There we have it. I knew that some people would find ways to bash him for doing it. No mention of Christ, his singing was bad, he doesn't do this for everyone that is killed, etc. Got it. You missed the first part of my post. What is the point of waving a Confederate flag at our president? Was any of this false? Of course not. Can't deny the facts. Don't agree with protesters waving the Confederate flag at the President. Completely deplore it. Completely defend their right to do it too. Hated seeing the White House in Rainbow colors. Detested it. Defend whoever made that decision to do it as well. You see that is the great thing about Freedom of Speech. It is not just for those being able to say things that line up with your way of thinking. Carry on.

However, those who hate the president are not going to give him credit for ANYTHING that he does. I was not a fan of President George W. Bush. I even said some things about him (things that most people would shrug off) that I am not proud of. However, I was fully on board with his "guest worker" plan and made it plainly clear that I was in his corner on that idea. @Run To State is my witness on that one.
July 17, 201511 yr All he did was go to Charleston, give a eulogy and sing "Amazing Grace"...which by the way, everyone is remarkably quiet on. Well I thought it was kind of funny that our president sings a song with the message of acknowledging that we are wretches and need God's grace to save us while at the same time spreading a belief the last eight years that everyone is good, morality is subjective, and everyone should share everything regardless of their life's choices/
