Eddie would still be at NewCath if he still had a steady job there other than football coach. He had to leave in order to provide for his family. The checks for only being a football coach wouldn't cut it for anyone. Dont understand how people bash him for leaving. The CCH supporters need to realize how thought this seasons schedule is plus with a new staff there will be several bumps in the road. I agree with Guru give him a few years and great things can happen for the Colonels

Let's call it like it is...Covington Catholic has not had a football coach or much of a program since 2006. The gap between Highlands and CCH has to narrow a bit just because of the coaching improvement. I refuse to believe that Highlands domination is a result of superior talent, year in and year out. Coach Eviston has an uphill battle but I know the school and I know Eddie...it's a great fit.

I'm sorry but I respectfully disagree. Highlands has a fantastic pool of talent to draw from, but their ultimate strength is the coaching expertise, the community support, and the bohemoth system that keeps churning out wins. Cov Cath has 500 young men to field a team and many of the best atheletes don't play football or sports in general.

Regardless, many would say that my senior year heavily favored Highlands in the level of talent. I disagree with that, but regardless we won. Cov Cath won 5 out of 10 state championships (1987-1997). Football was something to be proud of back then...not so much in recent years. Highlands has defeated the colonels mentally more than anything. Hopefully that will change and the gap between the 2 programs lessens.

So you are saying that Highlands wins because of everything but the players on the field? Disagree 1000%. I think that CovCath has more than adequate community support. Not exactly sure what you mean with behemoth system. I will reserve comment on the coaching.

I don't think you're reading SC97's statement correctly. Highlands' ability to put quality players on the field is because of their coaching staff, which has proven for decades that it is able to develop skilled players over and over again, because of its community support, which is as good or better than Cov Cath's, and because of its behemoth system that includes 100 years of tradition and 50+ years of a top notch feeder system that has been coaching 'the Bluebird way' into the boys in Ft . Thomas and having them ready to roll the moment the moment they step through the doors at Highlands. The talent in their "players on the field" is without question the result of those things, but...it is still most definitely in those players.
