Covington Catholic - Pretender (Hired the wrong Coach IMO and more worried about beating Highlands, If they beat Highlands maybe they can use the momentum, but that doesnt get them past the rest of the East. Lose to Highlands, they will be calling for coaches head, cause this is the year to beat Highlands if you are going to.)

 

Coach Eviston is going to get this program in top shape. he's a great coach and more importantly, a great leader who the young men will respect and work hard for. He has already made some smart changes such as removing outside interference in the program (parents).

 

Covington Catholic - Pretender - Have been since 06...but I will concede that sometimes Cov. Cath can burst onto the scene with an army of linemen and some tough backs behind them. But I still just don't believe in them.

 

Covcath should be a pretender until they prove otherwise. Highlands is king in nky. Sorry folks.

 

And fwiw, I believe covcath has the tools to be the top dog this year. The team needs to prove that they have a changed mindset.

 

As of right now, highlands owns them, and the kids at both schools know it. It's up to the good guys to change that mentality.

 

Cov Cath I think lost too much. I thought last year would be their year.

Ok, so maybe not a contender this year as it is a rebuilding year so to speak. I do believe though that Coach Eviston is going to turn this program around. He is a breath of fresh air after the last coach's lack of leadership.

I have no idea what CCH has coming back but I don't think coaching is going to be a weakness. Perhaps a pretender until he's got a year under his belt there.

No question Both!

Talent wise - I believe it may not be their best in awhile.

 

However, if they consistently put the correct number of players on the field at a time, it will be an upgrade.

Probably wouldn't hurt to actually beat a few of these teams they step up to play in non-district as well.

 

Story of CovCath

- Pre-Season #2 or #3 "This is the year we beat Highlands"

- Lose a bunch of games in Non-District, get banged up

- People debate their ranking

- Beat some small school power in NKY

- People wonder if they can beat Highlands

- Play close for a Half then get romped by Highlands

- Beat the other district teams and blame loss to Highlands on an injury

- Beat Ashland or Johnson Central at full strength

- Anticipated rematch with Highlands

- Lose to Highlands in a game that gives just enough false hope to repeat the cycle the next season

I think they're a year away. I just don't think they will score enough points

I'll give you most of this, but a "bunch" of games, I think not. They've consistently been #2 or #3 team in area for years, unfortunately, the margin between them and #1 remains pretty wide since '06.
