July 7, 201511 yr I worked in Dothan, Alabama on a special project for 2 weeks quite a few years ago. I was told by the locals that I just had to try the boiled peanuts. I did, and they were just, simply awful. Hated the taste, texture, everything about them. I'd willfully starve myself if they were the only food left on this earth. Right there with you. I was so disappointed.
July 7, 201511 yr If you have tried regular and didn't like them, you should give Cajun a tried. They are vastly different (better). It isn't the flavor that turns me off, it is the texture. I doubt I'd like the Cajun either.
July 7, 201511 yr All my family in Mississippi eat them and I've never tried them, they just look disgusting
July 7, 201511 yr Does anyone else here eat them? Or am I the only one. Went on a trip late this winter to Georgia, and noticed that every gas station south of Knoxville had crock pots full of them, and it rekindled my love for the messy, salty snack of the south. If you don't like them, why not? Is it the texture or the taste or that you just don't like peanuts? For me, it's become one of my staple snacks, especially when I make it on my own. Can't stand them. When I lived in Charleston SC they had them everywhere, tried them once and spit it out. It's like a soggy lima bean
July 7, 201511 yr Tried them years ago...didn't like them then, was more a texture thing as I recall. Seem to remember them being very bland too. Would try them again, but would have to have some good spice to them. But I would bet the texture would get me again.
July 10, 201511 yr I had to spit them out when I made the mistake of trying some....thought they were awful.
July 10, 201511 yr Ok...full disclosure...I think boiled peanuts taste like farts smell...and the texture has to be very similar to what poops texture is. They're absolutely disgusting.
