Why does this school system still exist?

There are a lot of people that are and have been asking that.

Serious question. I haven't read the report, so it may be in there.

 

Is Fairview now or in danger of becoming one of those school districts that are under "state control"? I don't know the proper terminology.

I don't know but I would think that's a possibility. Greenup Co. had this happen several years ago.

Title IX looks at money spent per athlete. The amount per athlete when comparing girls and boys needs to be within $100.

So spending 5,000 on football and only 2000 on volleyball may look like a big difference by really is not if you have 50 football players and 20 volleyball players.

Let's not excuse the Fairview School board. The red flags were there and they have continued to allow Musik to run the school system.

 

You can lay some blame at the feet of Marvin Moore of Rowan County. He was a member of the board of controls of the KHSAA and was informed of certain illegal activities at Fairview. His response was to forward the email to Musik. This was an obvious attempt to help Dollar Bill cover his tracks.

Agreed, the board members couldn't have not known and I would say that one or two were guilty of being in on a lot of it. There is certainly not a shortage of guilt in "the Wood" as they called it. Also, I would guess that one or more "prominent" business men and alumni were funding a lot of it themselves.

Ashland used to have over 1000 students and now has about 800, so yes

I say the state needs to takeover or just zone kids to go to Ashland or Boyd. I don't know how all that works but I believe the main source of the problem is finally gone (or retired)

I would think that Boyd would be. Ashland is an Independent School System so should Fairview fall in another then I would think that it would be the Boyd Co. system since that is the county that the school is in.

Keyboard Cowboys and I bet most posters would walk up to the people involved and not say the same things they post. It's one of Americas many problems called cowardly deeds. You guys were right though and those involved should pay but don't see any money missing on report so doubt law enforcement does anything, and Musick was the only guy that could shift the money around. As you can see by report fairview had no regulations to follow, and it was the Musick to Florida economy show.

What Fairview football player received free housing old rambler? What was the address? Send me a PM please. I say you are not factual and basing this off rumors. What kids were recruited by the coaches old Rambler? Send me there names? I say just because the kids went to Fairview you think they were recruited. This report proves nothing that you claim. How many times have you claimed that you were done with the trash talk? I've not ever sent you a PM, but understand why folks would.

 

I can understand Little Ram's youth and him trying to get the taste of losing 2 out of the last 3 games he played against Fairview, when the final second ticked off the game clock. I would think he would be more concerned with representing Georgetown Football than still on here trashing Fairview and the McPeeks.

 

I guess I see the report differently. How would the other local schools hold up to a microscope up the anus? 120k a year for 3 years by Musick without getting board approval? Had the report said they stole 360k or paid players money, then it would be a storyline. 32K invested in a weight room and much more than that reaped from the increase in gate profits from successful on the field. I think he should get credit for that great investment. The girl title stuff is bull for many small schools and I would guess many schools would have the same issues.

 

The bottom line is another attempt at the state to flex it's muscle. If you look hard enough you can always find something in an audit.

 

Fairview did make some mistakes and especially Musick!!!

I've heard reports of fairviews school system being in danger of being shut down/poured into Boyd county's school system for years before this, I think it would be a shame to see it end like this.

 

And technically If Little Ram graduated when I think Raceland won those games 1-0...
