Rob Gronkowski Hasn't Spent Any of His NFL Money

Rob Gronkowski may act like a fool sometimes, but the Patriots tight end is anything but foolish with his money.

The 26-year-old hasn’t touched a penny of the $16.3 million he’s made through his first five years in the NFL, Gronkowski writes in his upcoming autobiography “It’s Good to be Gronk.”

“To this day, I still haven't touched one dime of my signing bonus or NFL contract money,” Gronkowski writes in the book, due out July 14. “I live off my marketing money and haven't blown it on any big-money expensive cars, expensive jewelry or tattoos and still wear my favorite pair of jeans from high school.”

While Gronkowski’s investment strategy is making news today, it isn’t a new revelation from the Patriots star.

In a 2012 Sports Illustrated feature on him — “The Last Happy Man” is the piece’s title — Gronkowski told the mag that he invested his NFL earnings in tax-free municipal bonds, which was suggested by his dad, Gordy.

In that SI piece, the author tagged along with Gronkowski for one of his paid appearances — five figures for an hour at a Massachusetts girl’s 21st birthday party — that was kind of a dud.

“I was hoping it would have been just an all-out college party,” he said at the time. “I would have been there all night, I would have gotten hammered.”

Instead, he probably went home and looked at the millions in his bank account

Gronk is the man. I hope he doesn't ever mess that up.

Gronk would've been right near the bottom of the list of guys in the NFL I would guess to be financially savvy. :lol2:

The market has done well the past 5 years so if he's invested wisely he really is set.

Tax free municipal bonds??? Seems like he could have done better elsewhere, but when you have that much money, a 3% return is still over 300K per year

I love Gronk and enjoy his refreshing personality but I don't believe this at all. Hasn't spent ANY of his contract money? Yeah, right.

It's good to be Gronk...dude knows how to have fun and he doesn't give a rip if you condone his actions or not...he reminds me of Sir Charles in that respect.

Really, dont forget all the money he gets for endorsements and Public showings. probably makes as much or more than his NFL contract.

Estimates say Gronk has earned about $3.5M in endorsements. Not sure if that includes appearance fees.

Walkin' around money.

What endorsements did he have when he entered the NFL? He had endorsements when no one knew who he was his first season in the league? Pretty sure it wasn't until after his rookie season when he began receiving any REAL endorsement money.

Good points PP92. I imagine he means he has all his contract money in the bank and investments which could result from less spending, investment growth and endorsement money.

C'mon PP92, don't let facts get in the way of a feel good story!!!
