Your "it's a small world" story

I may be mistaken because I was sitting up so high, but I believe I've spotted TAC sitting in the 2nd or 3rd row at the Fieldhouse during a ballgame.

When I was at UNLV, a friend of mine borrowed my Rabbit Hash General Store t-shirt and never returned it. He moved from Vegas to Nashville a couple of years later. He was wearing the shirt in a bar, where he picked up the cocktail waitress that night because she was from Rabbit Hash.

I told him that I was glad to help out!

Was at the College Football Hall of Fame on what seemed to be a slow Wednesday a few months ago wearing a shirt with Lexington Catholic 'LC' logo (no words). Young gentleman came up and asked if we were from Lexington. We were perplexed and said 'yes' not sure how he knew. He indicated he had gone to school at Dunbar but recognized the LC logo and he had to ask since there was probably less than 100 people in the building at the time.

Grew up in another state, 1000 miles away. Moved to my neighborhood and live two doors down from a guy I played hoops against when we were 12. He only lived in town for 2-3 years. Odd I remembered him.

Went on an Alaskan cruise over 10 years ago and was in Juneau and ran into a customer of mine in a gift shop. Then while on the same cruise a couple of days later ran into a ANOTHER guy I knew in little hole in the wall diner in Sitka. Crazy!

I must have had some crappy seats that game!

My wife and kids call me Mr Howdy because no matter where we travel or do I run into someone I know or know someone they know.

Kind of a "small world" story happened to me while in Orlando at a conference last week.

Several years ago, as the basketball program I started at my church, Fox Creek Christian was taking off, I Goggled us to see what would come up as a knew some of the teams our varsity had played filmed our games. Sure enough, I found some film clips and some box scores of games that other teams had posted. But while doing this, I also found a small high school in South Carolina called Fox Creek. They also had a really neat mascot, a muscular fox ripping out of his uniform that I also thought about ripping off to use as our mascot. I also kind of follow their basketball team on the internet a little, keeping up with their record, etc.

Flash forward to last week. I was discussing high school sports with a gentleman from South Carolina while at the conference in Orlando. His kid is a baseball player and a kicker for his high school team. We are talking back and forth about stuff, and he mentions the name of the high school...Fox Creek. I say "Fox Creek Predators"? He looks at me kind of funny and says "yep". So I go on to tell him the story that my church is Fox Creek, I saw their name a few years ago while Goggling, I follow them a little, etc. Kind of a neat little story.

Last week while in Ocean Isle, NC we traveled the 25 miles to N. Myrtle Beach to the Barefoot Landing to do some shopping. While in one of the shops a gentleman comes up to me (I had on a NewCath softball shirt...what else would I be wearing :lol2:) and asks if that was for Newport Catholic. When I said yes, he told me he was born in Newport, but now lives in Florence, Ky and come to find out I've delivered to his house before.

It wasn't until two days later while texting PurplePride, that I found out he was at the Barefoot Landing the same day.

I was at Barefoot Landing a couple of days last week. We could've unknowingly bumped in to each other.

Damn, I missed an opportunity to add to my list. :lol2:

3 of them within a week.

April 2014 in New York City. On Tuesday I'm on Ellis Island. As I'm walking someone notices the green T on the jacket I'm wearing and asks if that by chance is Trinity from Louisville. They are parents of a young lady from Sacred Heart. Less then an hour later I see and speak to 2 football players from Trinity. Wednesday evening after seeing Les Mis I am having dinner at Guy Fieri's place on Times Square. Once again someone sees the T on my jacket and tells me he plays for St. X. Thursday afternoon I'm seeing a matinee performance of Phantom. Again the T is noticed. The guy in the seat next to me is from Lexington AND has the same job I do.
