With UK putting turf down on their football field will they move the games to UK?

Not for 3 years at least.

 

And I for 1 hope not. Forget about it being UK, a stadium that size will be way to big for the state championship games. Western's stadium is the right size for the crowds that attend the games.

 

One can't over estimate the staff at KHSAA's desire to have all championships in or near Lexington either.

I wish it was at UK or EKU closer to home.

Lexington is perfect geographically. Hopefully the state championship moves to Commonwealth very soon. No offense, but having the games in Bowling Green is ridiculous.

I agree, Bowling Green is just way to far.

The trip is longer for most of us but I prefer WKU. The venue is ideal and after all it should be about the kids.

 

However, I am sure many teams/players would love to play at UK so I think it is a win either way.

 

If you haven't been to the finals at WKU, you are really missing out.

I think Louisville would be better geographically, for admittedly biased reasons, but I would prefer having it in Lexington over Bowling Green.

Once EKU finishes their renovations, that could happen.

Ideally some sort of rotation between the college stadiums would be nice.

I sound like an old timer now but as someone that has been attending these games for 30 plus years the venue really matters. Too big is just that, too big.

In discussing this with some of the staff @ the KHSAA during my time as an AD, actually they prefer to spread them around the state to make it more inclusive to areas in some of the further out regions. Sure, it makes it difficult to have a home base in Lexington & host throughout the state, but it is nice to see different venues being used for Championship Events.

IMO Morehead would need to be refurbished to be able to host it.

Morehead would be a heck of a drive for the far western schools.
