(BB) Louisville Regional

Featured Replies

UofL is the #3 national seed and hosts the regional starting this FRI at JPat. The Cards will be facing Morehead St. who, according to the NCAA Selection show, leads the NCAA in batting average.

Bradley is the #2 seed and Michigan is the #3 seed.

For those that don't follow the Road to Omaha, the Regionals are a double elimination tourney. Winners and losers play on SAT.

On SUN, the loser of the winners game from SAT plays the winner of the losers game from SAT in the 1st game and the winner of that game plays the 2-0 team. If the 2-0 team loses, elimination game on MON.

As a general rule, the 1st game of the Regional is critical. Very tough to come back from a 1st game loss with 4 straight wins (including a DH on SUN). Pitching depth becomes critical.

Good luck Cards! L1C4! ProjectOmaha!

Morehead State is a really dangerous first round opponent for Louisville.

Particularly with Funkhouser in the "funk" that he is in. (See what I did there? :)) Hope he can dial it back in at home and the offense can get reignited. Particularly need to see some spark from Hairston and White at the bottom of the order.

Louisville will host a Super.

Morehead is 27-7 in their last 34 games. They are playing really good baseball.

Honestly, I think the 4 seed in this Regional is more dangerous than the 2 and 3. Good luck to the Cards!!!!!

I'm just happy Vandy got to host instead of what I assumed would happen which is them being the No. 2 in our region and that Indiana has been shipped down to Nashville.

Hopefully last weekend in Durham proves to be the aberration it appears to be and the pitching and hitting get back into a groove at the right time. This team has placed some insane expectations on itself and I hope its not proving too much for them.

^^^Shoot fire! I can't get the pic to show up correctly.

Seed doesn't matter as much as you might think. You get your seed from your body of work for the season. In a single game it's sometimes simply how good your ace is.

Even in double elimination that ace is critical because it is so difficult to win 4 straight out of the loser bracket.

As a longtime college baseball fan I've learned to take conference tournament results, good or bad, with a grain of salt.

Me too, as well as inflated records vs bad baseball teams. Congrats to Morehead, but come on folks, they've lost to every decent team they've played. Even the bad Funk gets it going in this one

I remember well a Ball State team coming to UK and winning the opener in 2006 when Kentucky was among the better teams in the country. Teams like Morehead and Ball State likely won't win the regional but they can cause havoc by winning the first game. And as a Kentucky baseball fan that has witnessed it every year they've been, I can say with certainty that there is nothing worse than losing the opener game of the tournament.

Go Morehead State!
