Since the visiting team has to cover half the field rental fee in the playoffs when NewCath hosts at Newport, will Somerset have to pay half the settlement?

I've been wondering the same thing myself.

 

 

The district I worked in has each renter get a 1,000,000 dollar insurance policy just to rent the field, if they dont get it, they dont use the field. Doesn't matter who uses it, they all are required to have this to be able to use any facility @ a school. I am sure Newport has one of these in place as well, or if they didn't, they will now.

Relax folks. For one, that case is laughable. I refuse to entertain it. Secondly, the turf at Newport will be getting replaced over the next couple months.

This is laughable. If NewCath wants to file suit with Newport, then they can happily take themselves elsewhere and play football. MRSA is EVERYWHERE. The fact that this happened in 2013 and he is now claiming it happened here is a joke. Moving on.

IMO, there's just no way you could ever prove it came from that field. Too many other options/variables.

I'm guessing this is to protect themselves should something come of the original lawsuit. Still, probably not great for the relationship. What would happen should Newport decide to tell Newcath to go play elsewhere??

I agree that the claim by this player is ridiculous, however you can't blame NCC for trying to cover their behind. They rented the field and Newport was responsible for the maintenance of the field. I'm pretty sure the contracts have already been signed for NCC to use Newport's field for this season. But I can see where this may be an issue between the two in the future.

In which I can understand the claim, however, with MRSA being all over the dadgum place, theres no way it can be pinpointed to the field. Shouldn't be much to worry about on NewCath or Newport's end in this case.

Agreed. As I started in an earlier post, some people have MRSA living on their skin. How do we know that the"cut" the player sustained on the field wasn't infected by MRSA already present on his skin. He could have gotten the MRSA from another player. Locker room, even the school buses they rode in. Nowadays that's just another risk a player had to deal with. Another poster asked a great question, "When was the last time the player disinfected their equipment?" I know my boys constantly bring their equipment home to clean and disinfect it. I would hope not as it is simply a business decision which I'm sure was driven by the insurance company and attorney. I would think Newport would understand.

 

Add me to the list of those who think nothing will come of this other than possibly a small nuisance settlement.

So will New Cath be looking for a new home field now? I know if I were one of the powers that be at Newport, I wouldn't be very motivated to rent my field out to New Cath after they sued me.
