Cal to the Pelicans?

Featured Replies

If hes wants a chance to do well in the NBA he won't get many better chances than that. He has an All-Star player in AD for the next 10 years to build around and with this year's UK team not as high as others it would be an OK exit.

What happens when AD wants to leave?

Davis leaves after this season, so he'd have 1 year....

I mean, there really wasn't anyone that actually believed this was there? You could see through this one from a mile away.

It wouldn't shock me if Coach Cal said something along the lines of, "I'm always listening, but you gotta do better than what I'm making here at Kentucky ($8 million a year) for me to even have a conversation about it."

Pelicans probably weren't looking to spend that much on a coach so there really wasn't any conversation. Some jackwagon in the Pelicans camp probably told a reporter that Coach Cal was interested in the position based on that conversation, which wasn't true.

@LarryHolder

Cal and Pels talked. Pels didn't want to pay. Now Cal says he has no interest. Pretty easy to understand, as @JohnReid64 reported.

Makes me feel even more that it played out exactly like I put in post #19 .

Do you guys think AD would leave if Cal was his coach?

I reported this over a month ago. I think the Pelicans will make a run at Calipari next week. I think Cal takes the job if he talks with the Brow and he commits to staying in New Orleans.

Reported what? :lol: Cal already shot this down within minutes.

You guys did remember to write in CAL for governor this morning when you voted right?

Like he is going to admit that he is interested. He would immediately be attacked by the Kentucky/our fan base. He cannot admit that he is interested. Cal has always been about coaching talent. If he goes to N.O. he has one of the top 3 players in the league and i am sure he feels like he could get some of his top former UK players to come to N.O. with the Brow. I still think it could happen.

Not happening if he has to take a pay cut to do so.

I believe that.

All those convinced Davis is gone, he can get a lot more money to stay than if he leaves, right?

Once the new TV deal goes though he will get payed more anywhere he goes. Yes his Max deal with the Pelicans will go up, but a max deal with another team in a few years will be more than a Pelicans max deal now. It will be interesting to see which route he chooses
