May 1, 201511 yr Major TBT on Letterman Show last night... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CTkFXAFuRs
May 1, 201511 yr I am a fan of Darius Rucker....seems like he struggled with his range a bit in this performance. I saw him on "Live at Daryl's House" which was actually shot in Charleston, and he was great in that.
May 1, 201511 yr I saw this earlier today and thought about starting a thread: Which version do you like better : Hootie and the Blowfish or Darius Rucker country singer? No debate for me. Give me Hootie all day long. I LOVE that CD.
May 1, 201511 yr ^ That CD was one you could put in, push play, & just let it go. No skipping of tracks.
May 1, 201511 yr ^ That CD was one you could put in, push play, & just let it go. No skipping of tracks. "Cracked Rear View Mirror" was outstanding. I had just graduated from college a couple of years earlier, and had settled into my first rear job, and had a 45 minute commute into Philly. I bought that CD and left it in the player only listening to that for weeks. Their next two albums, "Fairweather Johnson" and "Musical Chairs" weren't as big commercially, but still very good. "Musical Chairs" in my opinion, was just as good as their debut album. I still have all three in my collection, and still love listening to them with a beer on my deck in the summer time.
May 1, 201511 yr My last year in college me and 3 buddies decided to go to Hilton Head Island to meet up with one of their girlfriends without letting them know for the 4th of July weekend. I only had 50 dollars but did have my dad's gas card so If I drove they would take care of me. Not sure the girls were excited to see us when we showed up knocking on their door 3 in the morning. To make a crazy long story short, Hootie and the Blow fish were staying next door to them. At that point they were not big time but were playing by the Teekie Hunt Friday and Saturday night. End up partying with them those 2 days and nights. They thought we were craziest folk they ever meet and liked us. Ended up on stage one of those night giving ACC lovers a hard time. Even though I graduated from UK I'm a big Louisville and Maryland fan and was giving them all I had. Good times and good dudes.
May 5, 201511 yr Author I got burned out on this album years ago. It's been nice listening to it the last couple days. Kinda fresh feeling cause it's been so long.
May 5, 201511 yr Darius is from the same area I am from. One of my best girlfriends dad was his best friend. They'd golf together constantly. The windjammer was about ten minutes from my house and right by where my friend worked through high school on the boardwalk so we'd constantly hear the music. He also sang with my choir one year. Great guy! I love Hootie.
May 5, 201511 yr I turn the channel every time country hootie comes on. There is no country Hootie. There is a country Darius Rucker. Darius is just as good, if not better than he was before. I like both versions.
May 5, 201511 yr There is no country Hootie. There is a country Darius Rucker. Darius is just as good, if not better than he was before. I like both versions. It's country hootie to me and I'm no fan of country hootie. You can keep your wagon wheel and all of that blah. I'll take regular Hootie.

May 6, 201511 yr I saw Hootie and The Blowfish at Farm Aid at Cardinal Stadium back in I believe it was '94 or '95. They were surprisingly good, and I bought the first two CDs. I have little use for what he's doing now.
May 6, 201511 yr 1994 Sheryl Crow & Hootie at Bogarts in Cincinnati, both touring together on their highly acclaimed debut albums. Previous to the show I was only aware of the "Hold My Hand" tune, and wasn't fully aware until hearing Darius live just what a powerful voice he had. Within seconds it was like "Wow, this dude can sing!!!". You saw the amazement in the faces of everyone in attendance just what an undeniable talent he was. It was one of the never forget concert moments when you realize that you've stumbled on to greatness.
