I agree, iPapi. It was not my purpose to slight either occupation. Both are honorable. I was merely wanting a clarification. However, I do think the Budweiser job would be a superior situation. Nonetheless, I have a hard time seeing either job as a sufficient prerequisite for Director of Basketball Operations at a major university. But, then, I have often heard that many employers look at what an applicant can bring to the job.

Seriously, the director of basketball operations is a fancy term for a restricted-duties coach, one that can't go off-campus to recruit. In some programs, the position is for a young coach that's just starting out in the profession, with some coaching and administrative-type work.

 

I doubt that Barnes is the first AAU coach to be hired in that position for a major college basketball team.

Near as I can tell for the last couple of years, there has been no other job but full time aau promoting, I also know there have been some up front fees paid for North College Hill games next year, of course, I'm sure NCC doesnt mind playing, I wonder how many tickets they would sell without OJ and Bill?
