I just wish he would go away. It was bad enough when we had this garbage from some of the Pro prima donas. Then it was the college superstars who were in the news for their antics. When it gets to the point that the highschool celebrities are getting more media off the court/field than on, something has seriously gone wrong with our society.

"No doubt the Kansas State Wildcats are keeping an eye on high schooler O.J. Mayo, who's expected to be one of the top hoops recruits in the nation next year. Mayo had been considering a transfer to renowned high school powerhouse Oak Hill Academy in Virginia for his senior year. There also had been whispers that Mayo might transfer to Manhattan High for his senior season, which surely would have locked him into Bob Huggins' recruiting class for 2007."

One of the most prominent prospects in a long time, will garner this type of media coverage and discussion on threads like this.

If he goes to the school in Kansas, stays at NCH or migrates to another school, I wish him well. Most of us "normal", non-NBA types can't understand the scrutiny and almost cult like following, that Mayo and Walker have gathered.

A classic case of two young men, with exceptional basketball talent following the guidance of older adults, who perhaps does not have the best interest of the players in mind....not the first and certainly not the last, just one of the more visible.

Didnt read the article but what in the world is Walker going to do? Is Ellis going to stay at NCH? Somehow, this all seems earily familiar to the Rose Hill saga a few years ago.

While this situation may be different, I would not classify a Director of Basketball Operations position as a "job that doesn't require much work"

At least in regard to most Div-1 jobs.

I agree but most University employees are also qualified to be University employees.

Same "Bat Time", same "Bat Channel"!!

Says he's been accepted at Manhatten HS in Manhatten, KS. Also said that his coach/guardian is soon to be named by Huggins as the Director Of Basketball Operations at Kansas State"[/i]

Isn't that amazing that his "coach/guardian" is now a major universities Director of Basketball Operations when the best job he ever had was driving a delivery truck for Lays Potato Chips? I wonder how much of all this the K-State people know? :irked:

Interesting. Mayo says he did not go to Oak Hill to enroll in classes. He said he went to meet up with Beasley and Nolan Smith and talk about what Colleges they were looking at. The gym was open, and they played some ball, but OJ never applied to go to the school based on an article on the KState Scout premium site. He also said he was only suspended four days for a verbal altercation, and he had no clue where the 180 days rumor came from...

Silly me. That's probably because of the background lighting. I told the photographer that I was going to select one of the pictures from this shoot for my avatar, but he still insisted on the big Klieg light behind my right shoulder.

I'll try to find a different picture, if you'd prefer ...

Not to nitpick, KonaKid, but I'd say the best job he has ever had was serving as an official "leech" on the backside of a young basketball phenom...

PS - I have to ask - is "Kona Kid" a reference to the Kona coast on the big island?

As you can now see, it's part of the "Beggin' Strips" diet plan that is sweeping the country...
