Corbin wins the CFIT

Corbin defeated Beech High School from Hendersonville, TN 3-2 in nine innings to win the title. Nathan Stevens pitched an excellent game going 8 innings while allowing only 1 run before giving way to sophomore Joseph Hamlin who pitched the ninth. Corbin was down by one run going into the bottom of the ninth before Hamlin & Henson singled, Hedrick sacrificed them into scoring position and then Cashen plated both runners with a single to win the game.

Coach Garmon was quoted in the Times Tribune as saying "The win over Beech High School has to rank as one of the best we've had since I've been coach,” Garmon said. “Beech High School is a legitimate team and they rate right up there with anyone we have played here. I'm really proud of the way my guys came through."

Yes, the Hounds lost to NCC Friday night.

 

Newport Central Catholic lost to Beech by a score of 7-0. Beech also defeated Barren Co. 10-0 before losing to Corbin.
