April 20, 201511 yr demonstrates a lack of faith in any of the positions guys in the minors IMO. This team is talent deprived. Pitching seems to be the only bright spot and it's a year away. Where are all of those scouts that Marge had?? The Reds obviously have a lot of pitching depth in the Minors but they have some nice position players as well. Winker is the most complete hitter in the Minors as a whole. Outside of him and maybe Suarez who the Reds got in the Simon deal not many are ready to help out right now. But the system is far from bare in terms of position player talent. He's not a prospect but rather than playing a man down I don't know why Dejesus hasn't been brought up, he's been on fire since spring began. In an extra inning game when you look on your bench for a pinch hitter and the only players left are pitchers in Leeke and Marquis, at that moment I bet Price would wish he had another position player regardless of how good they are.

I would start going back to Phillips batting 2nd, but since not playing I would bat Negron second, he's hitting the ball well and second fastest to Hamilton, maybe get 2 on for Joey. What the hay?
April 20, 201511 yr DeJesus isn't on the 40 man. Everyone loves to rail on Bruce and Byrd (and rightfully so), but the guy who someone continues to escape criticism thus far is Frazier. It's pitiful for a 3 hitter to have as poor of numbers as he does right now.

Phillips is getting old, and he's already a little banged up this season. No issue with giving him a day off here and there. No chance you move Votto from the 2 hole. He's been out of this world the first two weeks of the season.

It's pitiful for a 3 hitter to have as poor of numbers as he does right now. True but an easy solution would be to DFA Skipworth or Gregg. I doubt any other teams would claim the two. Or they could just bring someone up that is already on the 40. Mesoraco can go on the DL retroactively and only miss an additionally 5 days or something like that. This early in the season there's no reason to rush him back any earlier anyways.

Why not put 2 in front of him,especially since he looks to have his opposite field power back? He's wasting at 2 if no more consistency and power numbers come from Frazier,Byrd and Bruce
