Reds @ Brewers series (4/20- 4/23/15)

Featured Replies

What do you do if the Reds have a 2 game lead in the NL Central at the deadline?

Like GT said if the offer is right. I don't think we will have to worry about that happening.

This.

It's why they need to move Cueto, Chapman, Phillips (if possible), and I'm starting to give up on Bruce. Restock the system, suck for a year or two, and then make a go at it.

I've lost faith in Walt. With him steering the ship, this may be a pipedream.

I bet we see Barnhart and Boesch, and maybe even Negron today. Get away day lineups are fun!

I just don't see Price giving anyone a day off today, maybe Sunday

I think Cueto ends up in Boston next year as well

I wouldn't mind seeing him in Boston. I hope he avoids Chicago (Cubs).

I agree that moving Cueto before the deadline is the best long-term move for the franchise; however, if the Reds are still in contention, I'm not sure how you justify (in the short term) trading away one of the game's best pitchers. If ownership is going to deal him and say this is a long-term move, then they should've dealt him last year.

Tough spot to be in.

This.

As much as I agree with all of this, especially the Bruce part. 3 of the most consistent things about the Reds are Cueto,Chapman and Phillips.

Cueto is a guaranteed win with a couple of runs

Chapman is unhittable

Phillips continues to field and hit

Bruce is my problem of these 4

Phillips does not come close to performing up to the level of his contract IMO. He's aging, his range is starting to decline, and his bat has not been the same as it was in well over a year.

But according to some on here this is the best bench the Reds have had in years so is this a bad thing?

It is the best bench they've had in a while (well at least when Walt and Price aren't handicapping them by having them play a man down). Still doesn't mean it's good. Just speaks to how god-awful it's been the last 3-4 seasons.

I'll bet that the tandem of Bruce/Byrd will (assuming they're healthy) challenge for the league lead in strikeouts for a pair of teammates

Trust me, I agree with you. But he still gets the job done as much as many out there. Just have a strange feeling at this point that Walt makes Phillips a Red for life and grooms Negron or a prospect acquired in a Cueto or Chapman trade

Everyone should have seen this coming given his 185 strikeouts last season and his age....
