Child Removed: Govt Overreach?

Featured Replies

While I am 100% in agreement with child protection IMVHO it's gone way, way to far. When I was a kid I was disciplined with corporal punishment. NEVER was a mark left, NEVER was skin broken and I had no long lasting effects other then I learned right from wrong. I have no doubt that a few of the very public spankings I received would now be viewed as abuse by many.

This is crazy and a complete overreach. First off all the kid did was take a political stance that a large % of American agree with and a majority of people under the age of 40 agree with.

How did the police question the kid without his parents present ? Then use a statement by an 11 year old for the search warrant . We now are going to conduct raids on people with small amounts of thc oil.

Just more evidence the war on drugs as currently fought is a joke .

Government overreach is getting scarier by the day. Next thing you know they could seize her bank accounts even if they only "suspect" she is a dealer...

Scary...

I saw where a parent got in trouble for shaving/cutting a pot leaf on one side of her son's head and 4/20 on the other side. Kid was elementary age I think.

If it comes to it I imagine the defense will push hard on the reason for the search warrant.

Another perfect example of you can't fix stupid.

How in the world the officers convinced a judge to sign a search warrant is beyond me.

I don't know about other states but CPS in Kentucky is borderline a joke. I understand they are understaffed and have too many cases. That shouldn't affect judgement IMHO. One reason they have too many cases is the extremely low bar that exists to remove a child. While you want to err on the side of caution, common sense needs to come into play somewhere.

Agree. A lot of the "corrections" I received as a kid in school were by the teacher in front of the class. I was never hurt by the spanking, just embarrassed because it was in front the class.

Stupid parent, but kids should never be penalized for having idiot parents.

There's bad social workers just like there are bad cops, doctors, lawyers, ect. You don't seem to like when anyone on here paints cops with that broad brush so you may want to rethink your wording.

Are courts back logged because cops have bad judegment?

No, I don't want to rethink my wording. I see it over and over and over.

I said CPS as a whole in Kentucky is a borderline joke and I stand by it. The entire debacle in E-town a few years ago should be enough to convince anyone.

Criminal courts are back logged because we have too many people committing crime.

Funny.
