I get it that Cards have owned the Reds, but the Reds have their top 3 on the bump, they've been hitting the ball, and it's April. You can't give in to a team... :banghead::banghead: I wouldn't expect the team to feel that way. I was just asking if the fans would take it. I'll give you that the Reds do have their top 3 pitchers going but as for them hitting the ball? They have a .218 team batting average and a .282 team OBP--both are 13th out of 15 NL teams.
April 16, 201511 yr The solid guess with anything positive about the Reds is to guess 1990. Always. 15 years? Lol, I don't think it is quite that bad is it? It is just strange in an era of parity to see a team own a division rival like that. It has to be a combination of just bad luck and a mental block at this point.

April 16, 201511 yr Took 2 of 3 in September of 2011 in St. Louis. Well, hopefully 4 seasons has been long enough. They have to get their bats going though, they've been fortunate to score as many runs as they have. A lot of that credit has to go to Hamilton's legs. He's help partially hide a very poor team BA/OBP. But when he doesn't get on and steal they've really scuffled.

To illustrate, the past 2 seasons (I didn't include the last 3 series of 2014 because the Reds were out of it at that point but still 3 one run games) here are the win margins: Cards - 1 Reds - 1 Cards - 1 Cards - 2 Cards - 2 Reds - 4 Reds - 2 Cards - 3 Cards - 4 Reds - 1 Cards - 3 Cards - 2 I love/hate this series living in Cincy. But one thing it always brings is close and exciting (IMO) baseball.

I'm just going off the matchup now and think this is always a fun/close series. I have no idea why I stick up for the Reds as much as I do. I guess I just respect the ownership/org and a lot of players and some fans. I also enjoy when the Reds are good because more people around here are talking baseball and hating on the Cards, which I relish. But I truly think they have a good and respectable team and by no means are they push overs. It blows my mind that they roll Kevin Gregg out there and don't do certain things when they have the pieces but as a whole, they have a good team. So I guess what I'm saying is that if your scenario was real, and someone said they would give me 2 games out of 3 and can skip playing Cueto, Hamilton, Votto, and Frazier I would take it and run.
April 16, 201511 yr Because they have to play them 18 times throughout the year so it's gonna happen like that sometimes. But its all season with every team, you play them in two series in two week period most of the time.
April 17, 201511 yr Serious question. It is no secret that the Cardinals completely and totally own the Reds. It is even worse in St. Louis. What if I gave you guys the option of taking a 1-2 record this weekend and not have to play the games. Would you take that and not risk going 0-3, save the bullpen and not risk any injuries? Absolutely and unequivocably.... NO! I would never settle for anything less than winning a three-game series or splitting a four-gamer. Having said that, we will probably lose three this weekend.
