August 12, 201511 yr Already saw the story on Reddit, pretty high up on the News subreddit. So it's getting out there.
August 12, 201511 yr Its Betsy Layne Does anyone really care? I mean the kid lied and so did the news article, cant believe anyone actually cares. Doesn't matter, it's called discrimination.
August 12, 201511 yr With it being a public school, they can get in a boatload of trouble for this can't they?
August 12, 201511 yr Doesn't matter, it's called discrimination. BOO HOO My response is get over it, it happens every day to people and in life its going to happen in places worse than a school yearbook. Maybe the kid shouldnt have lied and made up some big story.

Maybe the kid shouldnt have lied and made up some big story. Except for that pesky thing called the law that says you can't discriminate against someone based on their sexuality. If it had been because he was a Christian, you'd be the first person crying about how horrible it was. Since it's something you agree with, you don't care.

Maybe the kid shouldnt have lied and made up some big story. Whatever happened or was said before doesn't matter, so why do you keep bringing it up? If a black kid lied about something is that any reason to exclude him from a yearbook? NO! You are doing the same thing that the people in charge of the yearbook are doing, using the lying and "story" as a reason to exclude him, that is called discrimination, and the "boo hoo" comment just screams intolerance!
August 12, 201511 yr If anyone lies about something that makes the school look bad then heck with them, if their sad little photo aint in the book, then boo hoo if a Christian lied about something done to him by the school to gain person exposure and he gets left out, then he deserved it, not feeling sorry for him. Get ready for the real world, not some dumb school yearbook.

August 12, 201511 yr I am intolerant of ignorance and self pity. You forgot homosexuality, different races, different religions, women....
August 12, 201511 yr I'm not a gay activist by any means but I'm also not filled with hate. You can't discriminate a kid whether you support him or not. Betsy Layne is setting themselves up for a nasty lawsuit that they will lose.
August 12, 201511 yr Can someone summarize this for me? I remember some wild story about another team from Lexington on their bus. I read Mt Ref's comment at the top. Has the story been verified or was it a lie?
August 12, 201511 yr Can someone summarize this for me? I remember some wild story about another team from Lexington on their bus. I read Mt Ref's comment at the top. Has the story been verified or was it a lie? Cliff Notes version? Thank you, Clyde. I read this whole thread and the additional links and I'm like, What? What did happen and what didn't happen? Who discriminated against whom, and who didn't ...? What?! Gay kid was a victim of discrimination and harassment by another school's team. But then, no he wasn't harassed by other school, just called a name, but then his school called the offending school bad names and racial epithets, article comes out but it isn't exactly accurate. Then there is walk back on the story, but kid gets honored in parade because we all like an underdog story. But then gay kid's school, whose teammates were reported to be very supportive of him when incident occurred, now discriminates against him by not including his picture in their yearbook. What?! This is one crazy story.
August 12, 201511 yr Cliff Notes version? I was told both teams said some bad things and everything else was blown out of proportion. Should have been the end that night. I'm not sure what the story is on the yearbook but the school needs to take action before this really gets out of hand
