Things must have been really bad at Doss last year very interesting tweets from Doss coach. Was also one about guys must have not like going to Rupp and Doss will be back without them.

"Transfer" is definitely the word of the day.

I'm not mad for the record but these guys out here aren't playing fair. I won't try to get even, I'll do more with less. #Karma #EWYK

I also find it interesting that transfers were reported in the new Moore coaching hiring. Maybe this is not a bad thing, with the amount this happens every year and kids don’t have to sit out and can just move schools.

“Roy Sutton has been named the boys basketball coach at Moore High School and already has added some talent to the roster.”

“The Mustangs could have some immediate help next season, as Sutton said Ramon Collins enrolled at the school Monday after transferring from Doss. Collins, a 6-foot-5 sophomore, averaged 4.4 points and 4.6 rebounds this season in helping Doss win the Sixth Region and reach the quarterfinals of the Sweet 16.”

Yep. Transferring is handled so nonchalant anymore. When did it become possible for a student just to pick up his backpack and go play for the school across the county? When did it become commonplace for a kid from Louisville to play in Boyle Co., Taylor Co. or Mercer Co.? Soon kids will be transferring from their grade school teams- Is this setting a good example? When things aren't going your kids way when it comes to positioning or playing time do you just find something better?

As long as the moves are legal, the KHSAA will never stop it.

Exactly and why would they?

Coaches can get up and leave at anytime to go to a "better" situation without any repercussion, so why shouldn't the kids be allowed to??

Amazing...AAU mentality.

I have no problem with a kid transferring. A new coach came in if you do not get along with him then you should be able to leave. The problem is a lot of kids have to sit out in other sports because they are not good basketball players. It happens all the time in JCPS. I feel they should make no penalty for a kid transferring at all.

Let's just trade kids like the NBA...A power forward for a point guard and a prom date to be named later.

It depends on what school that prom date was coming from I would think :lol2:

Coaches that have kids transfer must look in the mirror at themselves. I dont know anyone involved in this topic. But I see coaches get upset every day about kids leaving to go to other schools. If you can't keep a kid in your own program then you have to look at what you are doing. You may be doing everything right and the kid just wants something different for themselves other than what you are providing.

Bottom line if you lose a kid - check what your doing first.

Check whats in their parents heads first...then their AAU coaches, then check your own (coaches) head.

Sometimes it is as simple as one kid not getting along with another. A coach can't control it all.

And the KHSAA has proven that if it isn't a legal move you will not be ruled eligible.

Same here. I'd venture to guess that there isn't a parent who wouldn't do what they feel is best for their child and I find no fault with any parent that has to make that choice. No one should be penalized for that.

Disagree. I'd bet that 90% of the transfers in Kentucky are due to unhappy parents and/or high school coaches actively recruiting kids. Lets not ignore the fact that recruiting in high school athletics is a real thing.
