March 30, 201511 yr Also, I've grown to really like Pearl. However, I don't think UK would go after him and I'm not sure they should.
March 30, 201511 yr I'll wait until Cal retires before I mention any names, as we don't know when that will be. A lot could happen between now and then, some coaches you may like now may tank over the years or become to old to fit the program. Then you may have coaches who are now starting out or will start to become very good or great coaches who we would go after when Cal does retire. One thing for sure, Cal loves this job and I don't see him coaching after UK
March 30, 201511 yr Brad Stevens isn't leaving the Celtics to come back to the college game by choice. If he leaves the Celtics it's because he's been fired, which isn't gonna happen anytime soon. He's got a team of pretty much role players in playoff contention this season.

This is not his last job as a coach if the right NBA job comes along. I think if the Cavs choke in the playoffs and don't even make the playoffs that the Cavs will get rid of their coach and make a run at Cal again and this time he will go. So as a UK fan I am rooting for the Cavs to make it to the finals.

March 30, 201511 yr Also, I've grown to really like Pearl. However, I don't think UK would go after him and I'm not sure they should. I love Pearl, I first met him in Hamburg in 2010 at the FIBA u17 WC ( got to know Gilchrist there as well ). He would drop anything to come to UK, I think that he learned his lesson and would do very well. But will he end up back at Tennessee? Vols fans have a page set up for donations to buy out his Auburn contact and are looking to get that $5 mil. I know many UT fans were not happy that they didn't go after Bruce last year. But again, it depends on when Cal desides that he wants to retire. And no one is trying to push him out the door

I hope you are right, but I think he is definitely gone when the right NBA job comes along. IMO the only reason he is back this year is because of all the guys coming back. He has even stated that this UK job is a job that a coach can't stay at for to long.

All that we can be sure of is Cal loves UK, he is having fun, and he enjoys people hating him. Anything else we can't be sure of. Even Pitino said leaving UK was the biggest mistake of his life. Money isn't an issue to him so I'll enjoy it until he leaves, could Wooden's record be in his sights? I'm not going to even get into the annual "is he going to take the job at ......." Until he says that he is leaving.

March 30, 201511 yr I've sat at my desk for 30 minutes staring at this screen and can't come up with anyone...is it the Cal effect? I just can't find anybody I would want...spoiled?

IMO the only reason he is back this year is because of all the guys coming back. He has even stated that this UK job is a job that a coach can't stay at for to long. Yes, when h left Memphis he did say that after about 10 years a coach would move on as its best for both parties. But as we know Cal is a showman and I don't recall him saying anything bad about Memphis, he (I hope) was just trying to make it hurt less for their fans. Things change, he said that he always wanted to coach at UK, and I think that he sees just how fun it is. I think he enjoys the hate and proving all of them wrong, who wouldn't? But as I said, I'm not going to be concerned until he says "I'm leaving". But I think he will tell Mitch well before it happens so he can start looking for a replacement. How about PP92? He is a huge TV analyst now and seems to know everything? We can even schedule Duke 2 times a year, he'd love that lol
March 30, 201511 yr A. Young enough to do 8-10 years. B. Personable, hard working recruiter. C. Savvy and tough enough to handle the media and the pressure without being a crusty jerk like Jim Calhoun etc...

Until he says that he is leaving. Cal is not dumb he is not going to do what Pitino did and go to a team that is not ready to win now. Cal does have a big ego, and especially if we win it all this year, he will want his next challenge. He knows he has failed in the NBA, and people say all the time it would be a mistake for him to leave. So what do you think he is going to want to do then? Prove people wrong by leaving and winning. However it would have to be a team with a superstar on the team that he believe he could win with right away.
March 30, 201511 yr I'd be willing to wait for Brad Calipari to be a seasoned coach...think we can get Cal to hang around another 15 years
