TBS vs. CBS

Featured Replies

Grant Hill is just ok. 10 times better than Chris Webber, but that is not saying much and can be considered a slap in the face to Hill. The whole schtick with the NBA guys coming in to cover these games is annoying to me. It's painfully obvious that Webber, Barkley, Smith, etc. watch no college basketball. Also, the worst hire of late for ESPN has been Shane Battier. In studio he is ok, but calling games he is dreadful.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather have guys like Barkley, Smith, Webber, Miller, etc. than the usual guys. These guys may not know the players all that well, but they are clearly more knowledgeable about the game than the guys that used to call these games.

I think Webber is awful.

Aren't CBS, TNT, TBS and the rest all owned by the same company?

Weber sucks bad. That 3 man crew they had for the Kentucky/ND game was pitiful.

Warner owns TBS and TNT I believe.

CBS was owned by Viacom.

No, it's a cooperative deal between the two entities. TNT, TBS, and Tru TV are all under the Turner Broadcasting umbrella, which is owned by Time Warner, Inc. CBS (and several other media properties) is owned by the CBS Corporation, which is the media company spun off from the once-larger Viacom corporation about a decade ago.

Poor Len Elmore has gone senile. The play-by-play guy was stuck in there on short notice with Marv Albert being sick. He doesn't typically do college games but was flown in from Arizona the night before. He gets somewhat of a break in that respect.

Elmore was terrible. He kept trying to figure out that 1 second on the shot clock. He kept saying we don't know how many tenths are on the clock.

With the shot clock there is no tenths. It is full seconds. He was clueless.

Brian Anderson worked the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament and has for a couple years. But his main area is baseball, where is quickly becoming one of the best.

Jim Nantz and Bill Rafferty are doing the Final 4 along with Grant Hill. I think that's a great team. The only thing I would like better is if Jay Bilas replaced Hill.

Personally, I'm not a fan of a three-man booth for any sports. Too many potential talkers that feel the need to talk during the game. Everybody has to get their points in. A two-man booth is much more enjoyable, especially when they let plays and the game marinate a little without talking.

Webber would have been much better if he hadn't talk.

Ha. I actually didn't mind Webber too much, but the mix of him and Elmore were a killer for me. I'd like to heard Marv/Webber or Anderson/Webber as a two-man crew.

Yeah, that was horrible. There should be tenths on the shot clock though.

I agree, there should be tenths

TBS coverage is terrible. TBS is not even HD with my provider

That is your provider being cheap.
