Black Man Beaten By Police After Stop

Detroit man says Inkster police beat him during traffic stop

Dent's attorney says "unreleased video" shows the police planting the drugs. The man had never been arrested for anything previously.

The officer using the chokehold was previously charged by federal prosecutors with planting evidence but was acquitted.

If there's undisputed video evidence he planted drugs, I'd be in favor of public hanging.

Why does it seem (at least to me) that this kind of stuff is happening so often recently?

Is it a lack of qualified applicants?

Is it a lack of training?

Is it something that's been going on for a while, but due to the current media culture is finally being brought to light?

IMO there are all kinds of incidents that go on daily that paint the police in a bad light and all kinds of incidents that paint the police in a good light. The current media culture dictates what we are to see and hear though. For every bad story about cops there are hundreds of good stories that go untold.

I believe Inkster is part of the Detroit area so I could see where due to economic difficulty the city is cutting back on screening good candidates and training but I also assume your last comment is part also.

Very true.

I still cant believe after all that has gone on the there arent more white cops that refuse or turn a blind eye to black crime in fear of being the next cop on trial

Police officers are like UK fans in that lot of them are good, some of them are bad -- yet the public only seems to acknowledge the bad ones.

Good cops won't turn an eye to any crime. They'll do exactly what they signed up for.

I hope so, but when a job and family are at stake, never doubt it.

Then they aren't a good cop.

Yep. And there's definitely infinitely more good cops than bad. It just seems to me (and maybe I'm the only one) that these kinds of stories/situations are happening far more often than they did even as recent as 2-3 years ago. :idunno:

More police cars equipped with video.

Blame it on the media. Feel good stories, for the most part, don't sell.

CNN, MSNBC, Fox and the like can't do wall-to-wall coverage of a police officer rendering aid to an injured motorist.
