Black Man Beaten By Police After Stop

Featured Replies

IMO there are all kinds of incidents that go on daily that paint the police in a bad light and all kinds of incidents that paint the police in a good light. The current media culture dictates what we are to see and hear though. For every bad story about cops there are hundreds of good stories that go untold.

Excellent point. Not to mention that many of the bad stories aren't always as bad as they're portrayed (Michael Brown)

Around 800,000 sworn officers in the country.

Millions and millions of interactions, contacts and arrest made per day.

One possible misstep and it is front page news regardless of what actually happened.

If they planted evidence or did anything else illegal they will and should be dealt with.

Very true.

I still cant believe after all that has gone on the there arent more white cops that refuse or turn a blind eye to black crime in fear of being the next cop on trial

Yeah, because that's not racist. :lol2:

That'll show 'em!

No telling what happened without video. If drugs were planted, I'm confident it will be handled.

Cant be called a racist if you dont do that now can you.

Once you get the label of being a racist, it sticks forever. Cops know that.

Is feeding their family and keeping their job more important than pulling over some random black guy and having that guy escalate a situation because he is looking to sue and get you fired, and accuse you of being racist.

Dont think it dont happen in both situations.

I love how you try to paint the picture that every black guy that gets stopped by cops immediately claims the cop is racist.

Nope, not a racist take at all by you...:lol2:

I never said that they were all racist, but look at the news and tell me.

I guarantee you Mt Ref is correct that there are officers who have that fear.

I agree. Those are the crappy cops. Those who are good at their job are the ones that will approach each situation the same regardless of the race of the potential suspect.

Then what about officers like Darren Wilson who have been exonerated but have still had their lives ruined? Was Wilson a good cop? If so why can he not go back to work?

You'll have to ask police departments why they won't hire him.

If you got bills to be paid and mouths to feed you can't tell me some cops aren't thinking twice about certain situations.

I'm not saying its right but you will do what it takes to care for your family.

I'm not sure what the percentage would be but I'm thinking it would be higher than many would think.

Every cop I know is not like dirty harry.

CNN, MSNBC, Fox and the like can't do wall-to-wall coverage of a police officer rendering aid to an injured motorist.

Because like Cat posted, it won't sell, won't get viewer/reader ratings up.
