A Nebraska state senator compared American police to Islamic terrorists and suggested he'd shoot a cop if only he had a weapon.

State Sen. Ernie Chambers said during a legislative hearing on March 20 that you don't have to go halfway around the world to find an ISIS mentality. It can be found in America because police terrorize blacks every day.

Rhetoric like this makes it very hard to take some peoples claims of racist behavior seriously.

But hell, instead of taking care of the bad guy, let's just make blanket statements and whip folks up in a frenzy. It makes for great TV and news media types are happy, ratings go up, and those "so called leaders" become relevant.

I'm sure he would learn the difference between the two in no time if he actually ran into some ISIS terrorists.

I...uuuuuhhhhhh...I don't really know what to say, except that I hope this comment might get him voted out the next time around. But it probably won't.

 

What I want to know is, how were the police not alerted to this comment and waiting for him on the state senate building steps to question him and search to see if he had a firearm? I mean, by saying what he did, could it not be considered "terroristic threatening"? he just said he would shoot a cop if he had a gun. How do we know he doesn't have a gun?:no:

ISIS is looking for new recruits, maybe he should give them a try.

I think it is criminal, I would probably charge him.

Aside from the general foolishness of this sentiment, this kind of rhetoric is infuriating on so many levels. Not only is it advocacy for violence against peace officers, which is abhorrent, but it falls squarely in that line of false and moronic comparisons in political discourse.

 

It's like when somebody gets compared to Hitler. You know which American politician is like Hitler? None. Not one of them. Nobody in American politics is like Hitler.

 

You know which authority figures in modern America are like ISIS? Not a single one.

This guy is a complete tool.
