Deuce, you appear to have struck a nerve. That nerve appears to be the approximate size and shape of Eddie Sutton.

So when Chris Jones was kicked off the team for rape, he was and is still on a scholarship. Ain't being used for a player right now. Seems unused to me

You realize how a scholarship works, right? The school provides it... Are they going to pay a scholarship back to themselves? :lol2:

He wouldn't know Chris Jones if Chris punched him in the face... :lol2:

One day he'll realize this isn't his strongest forum.

I did a quick search and found a Forbes article from March of last year that seems a little at odds with your original post. Granted, things can change in the course of a year, but Kentucky going from $20.4 million profit in 2014 to $7.5 million profit in 2015 seems a little fishy.

Per Forbes:

1) Louisville: Team Value $39.5 million; Profit $24.7 million

2) Kansas: Team Value $33 million; Profit $20 million

3) Kentucky: Team Value $32.5 million; Profit $20.4 million

4) North Carolina: Team Value $25.7 million; Profit $14.8 million

5) Indiana: Team Value $25.4 million; Profit $16.9 million

6) Arizona: Team Value $25.2 million; Profit $16.1 million

7) Ohio State: Team Value $22.9 million; Profit $13.5 million

8) Wisconsin: Team Value $21.1 million; Profit $12.7 million

9) Syracuse: Team Value $21 million; Profit $12.3 million

10) Duke: Team Value $18.9 million; Profit $10.6 million

11) Michigan State: Team Value $17.1 million; Profit $9.1 million

12) North Carolina State: Team Value $17 million; Profit $11.3 million

13) Illinois: Team Value $15.8 million; Profit $10.3 million

14) Michigan: Team Value $14.2 million; Profit $8.3 million

15) Tennessee: Team Value $14.1 million; Profit $8.5 million

16) Texas: Team Value $13.6 million; Profit $7.9 million

17) Xavier: Team Value $13.4 million; Profit $7.3 million

18) Maryland: Team Value $11.9 million; Profit $7.8 million

19) Minnesota: Team Value $11.6 million; Profit $7.5 million

20) Arkansas: Team Value $11 million; Profit $7.3 million

19 state schools and one other....

I noticed the same...although it's actually two: Duke and Xavier.

They seem so dominant, their presence just blends into the list. :bunny:

Reading back through this thread after finally seeing a full article... I've got to say: reading about college sports and profitability makes me sick to my stomach.

That and player salaries.

I don't care who you are, that's funny.

I saw that too but it's not the same list that came out today. High expense and not as great a TV deal as other conferences probably hurting UK.

Their conference has its own network. How bad could it be?

These numbers aren't worth the cyber space they occupy. All depends on how the athletic department decides to present the books...

Someone explained this last year as to how the books are cooked at some schools to make one sport look better than others at the same school.

Many moons ago UC used to put pay for game staffing (ushers, concessions, etc) in the basketball budget instead of operating to make it appear they were spending big money on hoops. It added nearly a million to the budget...

U of L edges UK, tops ACC schools in athletic revenue

U of L brought in $96,193,330 in total revenue in 2013, according to USA Today, about $400,000 more than UK and $5 million more than future ACC rival Florida State.

The $96 million figure ranks 18th among Division I athletic programs at public universities. Top-ranked University of Texas generated $165 million in revenue in 2013, $16 million more than second-place Wisconsin.

Alabama, Michigan and Ohio State round out the nation's top-five revenue-generating public-school programs.

The survey's findings, published every year in USA Today Sports' financial database, account for revenue, expenses and total subsidies for athletic programs at public universities.

Of the $96 million-plus in revenue, U of L athletics spent $92 million and received a nearly $11 million subsidy from the university.

UK brought in $95,720,724 in revenue in 2013. The athletic program spent $93,423,628, but only received an $847,079 subsidy from the university.

Looks like UL is getting around $11M per year from the university for their athletic program.
