Highlands 2 Scott 0

Featured Replies

The flop play is when you have runners on first and third an the runner on first attempts to get caught in a rundown allowing the runner at third to score before the out is made at first. Highlands apparently used it to save innings and pitchers and BW took it as running up the score.

Thank you.....I know it better as a Pickle play....

I wasn't at the game, and I guess Beechwood just let Highlands win by what FairFan says. But why would you play in this tournament and not want to win?

I am sorry BW doesnt play that way....I guess they should in meaningless games like that though, shouldnt they?

Isn't Meyerhoff still the coach at Beechwood?

If so, I don't think BW fans have much room to talk...

So Holmes was a more imporntant game then the wood bat tourney...you pitched Chris in that game. And Newman was good enough to start against Cov Cath....why didn't you throw the kid that needed a letter there. As far as your JV players running up the score on your last six or seven opponents...thats not what the box scores say sir.

Go back and read post #18 they are in the middle of the All A classic, so maybe he wants to save him for that? I think it is poor scheduling, I dont know why they would have two tourneys going on at once.

He was not happy to say the least, I will be the last one to blame any loss on the officials, but the inning they scored 7 runs in should have never happen, but the ump behind the plate missed a call that put a kid on first, then with one out bw turned a double play, that was not called...after that if hit the roof.

if hit the roof,or it hit the roof. I'm sure you meant (it hit the roof). A nice win for Highlands. Remember even if the Beechies get a rematch with Highlands and Bw runs rules Highlands, i don't think Mike Johnson will be crying over why or why not Bw ran the score up on them. Highlands is winning games this year and that what he is being paid to do. If you want to bash the guy on how he is coaching, that is fine. Whatever floats your boat!!!! He is just letting everybody know that with a couple of years under his control and with the talent he has to choose from, your about to wake a sleeping giant.

Actually, the poor scheduling, if I understand the Class "A" tournament correctly, would be the BW coaches fault. After the regional games the sectional games are played within a two week time period to allow the coaches to play around their current schedule.

Holmes is a district game, HS coachs want to win district games.

Man, I don't know where people get their info from, but I went out to Scott to watch Ryle and HHS play, for the life of me I thought that was Simon Kenton playing HHS. SK beat HHS 10 - 7 in a good one. I sure like the fact that HHS is keeping their own with the best and beating the ones they should. Some easier than others! Good luck Birds the rest of the way out and hope to see them in the Regionals.

...and you felt like you needed Curley on the mound to beat holmes???

aaaallllllllllrrrrrriiiiiiiggggghhhhhtttttttyyyyyyy then.

Thats what I am saying.

What is not supposed to pitch until the regionals. He has to pitch sometime.

Who is What? No, he's on first.

If I understand it correctly from the above:

HHS runs a trick play while up 9 against Bob Myerhoff. It appears Bob Myerhoff et al were upset by this.

If its true that this run "won" the game for HHS by forcing the 10-run rule, I've got no problem with it. Your goal is to win the game. HHS's coach called a play that "won" the game. What's the issue?

I will agree with my friend CC that the amount if irony here is simply beautiful.

Exploding for 10 runs, and pulling out the "flop play" then you are up by 9 are two totally different things.

Then how do you justify the All "A" tournament last year when Beechwood was up 9 on NCC in either the semi's or finals?

You know...the time when Beechwood had runners on 1st & 3rd, up 9 runs, and the runner on 1st took off into right field causing the pitcher to balk. Naturally the runner on 3rd scores, and Beechwood wins.

I cannot help but laugh when a "trick play" comes back to bite Myerhoff in the butt. At least the "flop" is somewhat realistic. Having a runner take off into right field is ridiculous and, IMO, does not belong in baseball on ANY level.

Here we go again. Folks when your going to respond to a post, can't we try and get our facts together?

I can see doth sides of the argument here, because yes, Beechwood does have the fire power to come back. But "NO" CC, your wrong! It was a 4-4 game when the balk occured in the BW/NCC game last year. So please, lets get the facts right.

Please refer to April 14th 2005....Below. You know...The time the when it was 4-4 in the bottom of the 7th?
