I noticed that for the 65 years or so that there have been state championship in Ky that Jefferson County was guaranteed a team in the finals for all but about 8 years.

 

Jefferson County hasn't been certain of a participant in the championship game since the lat 70's or early 80's, whenever it was that the Jefferson County vs. State at large set-up was scuttled.

Yes, at the beginning they were guaranteed two teams in the finals every year.

 

And that hasn't been in effect for almost 50 years????

Interesting. Simon Kenton matches what you said before, but I'm curious about your reasons for putting Male below St. X and Scott County. Also, I haven't heard much about Ryle. What do they return in the coming year?

IMO O think you will see Highlands come back to the pack somewhat over the next few years. They no longer accept "tuition" students. So now,, to go to Highlands,, you have to live in the Highlands district. It will be interesting to see how that all unfolds.

 

Additionally,, I think what Bowling Green has done speaks to the program they have installed. I have much respect for what they have achieved. I think what they have done with the kids that live in their district is much more impressive than say an St. X or Trinity.

 

I take nothing away from the St. X or Trinity programs. Both schools have done a great job at putting forth teams that are exceptional. My only point for my earlier post was to see if they could achieve the same result with a finite district to pull from. Maybe they will,,, maybe they won't but it would be interesting to see. However,, as long as they can get players from all over they will have a greater chance at repeating.

Return a great RB and many high level skill players. Their Defense will be much more athletic and fast this year. The question marks this year for Ryle, SK, and Cooper will be depth and skill on the OLine in my opinion. Should be some great games in 6A this year in NKy.

Ryle will have a good QB, and return 2 really good running backs. Their OL should be good also.

My understanding is that last year Ryle was going spread so this is there 2nd year running it in this form? Is that correct?

Yes they are passing the ball more.

St. X has a lot of proving to do!!! A preseason poll is just that. Long way to go for the Tigers can begin to start dreaming of winning State in 2015. Lots of work to be done. Coaching vacancies to be filled . . . We shall watch with optimisim, however, that can carry only so far!!!
