One can agree that McClendon could be interchangeable but didn't get the node. There probably could be argument for others as well. I think the ones that got it were deserving as well. However, IMO I am glad to see that some blue collar workers were recognized like Hassert and C. Mayhaus. Not higher scores but got the grunt work taken care in good fashion.

Happy to see Hassert on the list. Underrated in my opinion for what she does. And no Ally Mayhaus. Didn't have a great game against the Birds (the only game I saw her play) but still surprised she's not here. Also agree with McClendan. Unfortunately these things seem to mostly go to the scorers and the blue collar kids are forgotten. She's very good and we all know it.

 

As I was leaving the BOKC tonight, I told Abby and her parents (I assume that's who they were), it was a pleasure to watch her play and IMO she is the most underrated player in the region. She does more that doesn't show up in a box score than anyone. Always has a nose for the ball on both ends of the floor.

The all tourney teams are torture for coaches. The Indians did win the region and as others said nice year by Holmes, Highlands, Ryle, Dixie and many others. The 9th Region was pretty strong this year.

 

Kes may be trying to motivate McClendon and the other Mayhaus girl to even amp their games up further downstate. I don't know. Certainly I bet Kes hated leaving anyone that played off of that unit. The players always seem to take these kind of awards in stride. The parents and relatives-not so much.

AGREE!! I have seen players go to selfish mode to earn this title, playing for themselves versus playing smart for a team win.

So, are these complaints about the HC girls representatives for the all tournament team coming from HC people, player parents?

 

I am not affiliated with HC just have seen them play several time. McClendon was the most valuable player in every game I have watched.

Can't believe there is not a committee to pick All Tournament team.

 

Last year in the 8th region all tourny was picked by committee of adults who teams were not playing but had played themselves in high school and/or college.

Getting back to the game........what is it about Holy Cross that causes Holmes so much problems....To only lose three games all year and all to the same team is tough....great season for both teams!

Imo just a bad match up for Holmes. Hc can handle the pressure and them pound it inside also.

Also I agree Mclendon is a huge factor on making this team go, but with that being said she is the type of player who cares nothing about these awards she along with her team is focused on the big prize the one goal every team in the state sets out to achieve at the beginning of the season. This group of girls doesn't care about the all tourney teams there care about each other, the program they play for and winning the ultimate prize!
