Nah, let them come back and be the "Y". Leave Senior Day for players graduating.

UofL honors players that aren't seniors all the time. Harrell is participating in UofL's tomorrow.

Leave it as is. Seniors should be honored for sticking around 4 years before they go on to their office jobs. Those leaving before their senior year will have to console themselves with their 7 figure salaries.

I think it had more to do with the fact that Mashburn came to UK when the program was in shambles & he had a huge hand in helping resurrect it.

Several of the guys up there played when freshmen were ineligible, so they only played 3 years.

I think you covered it well. Mash was honored after the game though. He had already announced he was leaving. And as mentioned, he was the reason for the quick turnaround. Before him the only UK players to go early were Tom Payne in '71 and Rex Chapman in '88. The problem hadn't existed much at UK but had since the '70's at none other than UNC. James Worthy, Bob Macadoo, Michael, j R Reid among others left there early. Ironic, huh? :lol2:

Who says Willie isn't coming back? I think he surprises everyone again and stays another year.

 

As far as senior day goes. I think if a player would come out and say publicly that they are not returning, they should be acknowledged during senior day. Otherwise, no, I don't think we should give every potential draft pick a senior day, just in case they do decide to leave.

 

Honestly senior day is a bigger deal to the walkons and such than it is to guys like Anthony Davis. The studs have had plenty of recognition from the fans throughout their generally short careers, the walkons not so much.
