2015 Class 3A Pre-Season Top 10

Featured Replies

I'd say this is a pretty good starting projection!

Except, no Adair County? I thought they returned everything.

I think the safest bet would be to almost do a double ranking between Adair and Etown. It's probably safe to say that whomever wins that game wins the district. Rank them both in the same spot or same area, and the winner would get the higher ranking of the two.

And I really wouldn't buy into the "fools gold" comment on them. They were extremely young and I think it's safe to say that almost no one would have predicted their season last July. It kind of seemed (and seems like for numerous other teams as well) that frequently when the teams who are having a down year but are still extremely talented lose to a team like an Adair, it doesn't become that they are a good team just that the other team is just that much worse.

Living in the greater south central KY area, a lot of people would have said last pre-season that if Adair beat Fort Campbell it would make them a top tier team. They do, and it transforms into "well, Fort Campbell must have been worse than we thought if they lost to them!"

Not taking an Adair side, just more so of an urging people to look at the underdogs and lesser known teams a little differently. Their level of success is completely different than that of other teams.

Again, not taking sides at all, it'd just be nice for the discussion to be a little more evolved than "did you see that UsuallyGood High School lost to Whosthatnow County? Man, UsuallyGood must be terrible to have lost to them!"

I agree on Adair, they proved their worth last year IMO. Top 10 next year? That's for people a lot smarter than me to discuss. But with the new 3A, you could be in that top 13-17 range and be pretty darn good. It's easy to bring up their schedule (we all do that, hell, that's one of the biggest factors to having winning seasons----play people worse than you---"Ahh!! Say it aint so?!? Who would do such a thing?! :idunno: :ylsuper:), but they played the people who have been on their schedule for a long time and they didn't have this kind of success before.

I do know they just got a new transfer in from Tennessee, he will be part of that Junior-To-Be class that will probably be the best to ever come through the program (already are IMO). He actually was part of that group originally, then moved away, only to come back to Columbia here in the last week or two. Ill see if I can find a Hudl link. Impressive kid to say the least.

When some dang good talent meets that same kind of coaching, things like this happen. It's definitely not complicated.

Their games vs. E-town the next two years will tell all. If they are able to beat them and win their district, a Region Final appearance wouldn't shock me in the least.

Garrard County will make noise. They will give Boyle and Catholic all they want in district play. They return two 1,000 yard rushers that will be Juniors and a senior running back that ran for over 800 and missed a few games with injury. IMO they have one of the best lineman in the state in Davian Logan, he goes about 6'4 300 (BEAST) They also return Mr.Everything in QB Slade Crutchfield for his 4th straight year under center. Look for the Golden Lions to be in the mix at the end!

To add to that, most people will be looking at Boyle and LexCath to emerge from this district so Garrard will be able to fly under the radar and play with less pressure and with a chip on their shoulder. I expect them to be better in 2015 than in 2014 and they were really good in 2014. Boyle and LexCath will get all the pub though.

This class is going to be a lot of fun to watch.

Somebody in that group will play a first round ROAD game!

No joke. Wild, huh?

What's even crazier is that not only will they be playing a road game, but that it will be Central/Bardstown vs. one of those three as a 1st round game.

That's a rough road. 3A is sure to have some excellent games this year, probably almost every week. It'll be fun to watch and keep up with.

Lexington Catholic's schedule will prepare them for the postseason. Playing teams above them in class has always made them better in the postseason. The month of September will tell us where LC lands in the 3A pecking order. This may be the best set of skill players they've had at one time on offense.

Crap. Is it too late for Boyle to petition to go to 4A? I heard Highlands is gone. :lol2: :lol2:

I've heard that Boyle will be playing Bell, Danville, John or Central Hardin (I know it was one of them), Dunbar, Anderson, Garrard, Lexington Catholic, Owens, Collins and Madison Southern. Now this is what I have heard some of it could change or be wrong.

The Bell and Hardin games I think would be Bowl games so they may not have finalized them. Plus is could just be hear say.

That's stout. Is Bell County or one of the Hardins in Boyle's bowl? Is Boyle playing in Lincoln's bowl again?

Some of these are correct.
