BigVMan23 Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Shot glass? Something akin to a brandy snifter? Straight out of the bottle as soon as you leave the store?:whistling: Seriously though, for you bourbon drinkers out there, when partaking what do you use?
BigVMan23 Posted February 23, 2015 Author Posted February 23, 2015 Glencairn I had no idea what that was and had to Google it. My word for the day, thanks fkyw!:thumb:
BigVMan23 Posted February 23, 2015 Author Posted February 23, 2015 Glencairn And the elaborate...what does drinking it from a glecairn impart on the bourbon?
spindoc Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Back in the day I'd have said a belly button.
mcpapa Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Glencairn If neat, good call. If rocks, a rocks glass. Just make sure it's one large cube or piece of ice.
BirdBrain Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I have some favorites that I have acquired over the years of travel, that being said, I refuse to address my kleptomania for fear of losing my single malt glasses
cathbird Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Straight out of the bottle, still in a brown paper bag, underneath a bridge. Go big or go home.
Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 When I try a new bourbon, I like to drink it neat out of a Glencairn. That being said, I generally drink my bourbon on the rocks. When I'm in my own home...I'm drinking it in a rocks glass over a large, clear ice cube. (The clearer the ice, the less oxygen there is in the ice and thereby the denser the ice is and the slower it is to melt.) Here's how I get my ice:
Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 My friend is convinced only out of copper. ...so does he/she think glass is reactive with bourbon, then?
formerkywrestler Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 And the elaborate...what does drinking it from a glecairn impart on the bourbon?Opens it up and allows you to get a better nose of the bourbon. Since a lot of what we call taste is actually the smell this is good. I've done side-by-sides in different glasses, there is a noticeable difference when using a Glencairn.
