Will be interesting to get more details as they become available. The initials news reports stated the man just opened fire on several of the rooms outside the hotel .

Which hotel? Same one as the drug bust a while back on Dream Street?

News said it was Knights Inn I believe. The prior shooting on Dream Street was at the Super 8.

They need to tear down those flea bag motels.

I work on Dream street and the problems are limited to the hotels. Never had any problems in all the years I have worked here. The Knights Inn has lost its affiliation and is now the Florence Inn. The owner has run the place down and focuses on long term renters. The school buses pick kids up there for school. If they would stop the housing assistance to this place I am sure it would help clean it out. It is in such bad shape now it might be cheaper to tear it down than to remodel it.

According to the articles it was the old Knights Inn on Dream Street.

From the article:

Investigators said when officers arrived, they found the man loading a shotgun.

"At this time, all we know is that he was out there by himself. He was in the room by himself and had come outside, and was just firing rounds in the direction of the hotel," Capt. Tom Grau with the Florence Police Department said.

Grau said officers opened after the man refused multiple commands to drop the gun and began leveling the shotgun at them.

The suspect suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to University Hospital for treatment. The man's name has not been released.

No officers were injured. All officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave.

"Police said officers were called to the Florence Inn Motel at 8049 Dream St. at about 1 a.m. Thursday morning." - WCPO

I think I know all the officers involved and let me say the bad guy had no chance once they got there. This was a very very skilled group of police officers and when the time comes that I can share more about them I will.

I do want to add, I sleep good at night here in the city of Florence knowing who is protecting me.

In short, the group that responded was the equivalent of a small military special forces team.

...but were they wearing rip stop BDU's and comfortable ?

No idea what the uniform of the day was and sometimes individual officers have a choice depending on their assignment and/or personal preference.

We used to have BDU days but the powers that be got so uptight about it I quit wearing BDUs and stuck with a regular uniform.

That explains their black sign.

I have noticed on my way to work Florence PD is training in Independence.

Have they identified the suspect yet or are they waiting to see if he makes it?
