Police Shooting In Florence

Featured Replies

Hypothetically, when someone robs a bank, shoots a couple of police officers and then runs into the woods guess who goes in after them? The K9 officer. My point is, K9 officers consistently deal with the most dangerous aspects of law enforcement.

I want to add that Bryan Murphy (the K9 officer involved) is one of the nicest, friendliest, best people you will ever meet.

Quoting my own post I know...

I want to add that in this hypothetical situation at least one other officer with an AR15 would go on the track with the K9 handler and dog. Super dangerous stuff. Essentially you are talking about small scale guerrilla warfare.

Also, one of the officers is a former firefighter/paramedic. Real cool under pressure.

Police stopped by my office to see if we had video cameras. His unofficial opinion was suicide by cop.

Which leads me to my next question and next comment. What drugs was he on? And the comment: Drugs are bad!

Several media outlets listed the officers involved:

Lt. Joe Maier -- 18 years experience

Sgt. Chad Irwin -- 18 years experience

K-9 Officer Bryan Murphy -- 15 years experience

Officer Tim Lowe -- 14 years experience

Officer B.J. Eder -- 13 years experience

Officer Jake Samad -- One year experience

======================

I don't know Officer Samad but I worked with the rest of the officers.

Several of them have SWAT experience, one was in training to be a Navy Seal before an injury forced him to take a reduced roll when he recently served our country, K9 speaks for itself, I see at least two range instructors, one sniper, one marital artist (had to throw that in there), and a wealth of quality experience.

I am not sure if I know any of these guys, I am sure I may have ran into one of them in Florence, I see some FPD and Boone Co people at some of the places I go to eat, especially late at night, I can tell that the people knew their stuff and it would be a mistake to mess with them, and seemed like nice guys too.

Wasnt Samad a former Football Player for Conner? Come on Guru....

Yes

Played football freshman and sophomore years, then concentrated on baseball only, Conner class of '10.

Unless he had a reason to be there, I was thinking that or a complete psychotic breakdown.

Murph is also a physical beast, has some specialized combat training (he isn't Seal in training I was referring to), and of course he was highly trained as a rookie. :thumb:

I ran into Murph recently and we had a discussion about officer safety and situations just like this. I am glad no officers were injured.

Highly trained as a rookie huh. I wonder who his FTO was.

Tax payers should give that guy an M4.
