Southwestern actually pushed out to a seven point lead in the third quarter before Lincoln put it away. Conway had a big night, Pittman and Taylor, too. I thought B.J. Hoover played very well for Lincoln. Only 8 points, but several rebounds, and some hustle plays that don't show up in the stats.

 

I'm not sure what to think about Southwestern. Too many shots taken by the wrong players. And why did Wright have Butt on the bench so much?

Southwestern beat Wayne County by 22. They also have defeated Hopkinsville. Boyle County hasn't defeated Southwestern. They have my respect.

Yes they will be, that's why I think the region tournament should go back to the way it was when I played when every school got the chance to host region. Just gives the host school a very big advantage

Thank you, jlow. Just because the host happens to be one of the best teams this year doesn't necessitate changing the entire format. I can guarantee that if Boyle and Lincoln were playing in the regional final and it were at McCreary Central, the same people on BGP would be complaining that two teams 10 minutes apart have to "drive to Tennessee" to play the game.

I have heard that the regional tourney formats are being looked at hard again by the 12th region AD's and a change could happen. May not happen but being looked at hard.

I'm not bashing at all. My junior year Garrard played Boyle in the first round of the region at McCreary Central. Garrard lost by 50. Most agreed that it would have been much better if the game had been played a little more locally. Matchups like that we part of the reason the ADs chose to go to a central location for both boys and girls tournaments.

 

And what does my comment have to do with "Garrard [being] below par for several, several years." If it were Garrard and Lincoln in the regional final at McCreary Central people would complain about the distance. When Garrard hosted the regional tournament in 2003, North Laurel and South Laurel met in the final. People complained about the distance. In no way, shape or form was my comment critical to either program, both of which I have a great deal of respect for and friends within. To read anything else into that confuses me.
