Do you agree with Jay and Jay about the teams that can beat UK?

Featured Replies

Virginia,Wisconsin,Iowa State and Gonzaga seem to be the popular choices among the Gameday crowd. Do you agree? Has anyone seen several games of these teams? I haven't watched one game of any of those 4.

Yes, and I'll add Duke.

I wouldnt say Gonzaga, but if you replace them with Duke then I would agree.

Gonzaga is what they normally are..................."Overated"

Just remember that Wiltjer is their best or 2nd best player and he had to transfer out of UK to get playing time. Count me as one who is not scared of Gonzaga.

Duke is really the only team that I think has a shot. Everyone else, IMO, needs us to play a pretty bad game.

If everyone plays their best game, UK is the best team, IMO. Duke would be next and there is some distance before I go to Wisconsin as the third best team.

Surprised Arizona didn't get love. I don't like the team, but experts seemed to love them before the season and they are still playing fairly well.

Cats "Could" lose to several teams. If a team is hitting the open shots that they do get, then they have a chance.

Duke has the best player in the country and the best coach, so that combination would always be dangerous.

Wiltjer is a very talented player, and the style Gonzaga plays is a perfect for him. Don't let the NIT year be the judgement of him. That team just simply didn't have the players needed to run what Coach Cal wanted to run.

Virginia, Duke, and Wisconsin are the only teams that would have a chance if UK played a good game. Personally I think Gonzaga is extremely overrated, but it won't show for a while. As far as teams that could beat UK on an off night, there are several.

I could see UK losing to an unranked team before any of the above. The cats seem to come out and play focused against the top teams.

IMO, it would take a team shooting lights out from 3 to beat this UK team. Even then, UK would have to have a poor offensive game.

He is, as a shooter, but he's Charmin soft. The same could be said about the rest of Gonzaga's team. I wouldn't be surprised if they drop a game in conference to a determined team while having a bad night shooting. But even if they don't lose in conference, they will be the first #1 seed out.

Edit: For the record I like Wiltjer, wish he was still at UK. But imo, he is a good go to guy in spurts, a zone buster. You can't give him a lot of minutes like Cal did in the NIT year though because he gets abused on defense. He could come out and go 5-5 from three, but that doesn't help if you give up 16 points in free throws and layups.

I would take it a step further and say Duke and Virginia. Virginia because their defense would keep it a low scoring affair and anything can happen when it's 40-40 with 2 minutes to go. Duke because any given night they can put 90 up on the board and naturally Jahlil Oakafor.

I could definetly agree with that. Virginia has looked vulnerable at times, but so has UK, yet they both keep winning.. The main reason is defense.

Duke can definetly beat UK, but they would have to shoot the three well. In a 10 game series against UK, I believe Virginia has the best chance of winning it of all the teams in D1. It would certainly be a defensive battle. UK is shooting the 3 ball well though, so I would still have to take them in a head to head battle.

^ I dont care how it happens I just want to see the Duke/UK matchup #39-1
