I agree about the fans chanting. It's just a part of the game and I have heard way harsher things said.

 

I have no problem with fans chanting that. If I were the player it was directed at, I'd take it as a compliment.

 

Now, what I do have an issue with is folks getting one here and acting like the CCH coaching staff stopped it... didn't happen.

 

Also, the CCH players are stepping on the court and "bullying" their opponents, both physically and verbally... and good for them for doing that. Until another team steps on the floor against them with the same mindset (in the 9th region), they will continue to whoop other teams in this region.

Sounded like both offenses really struggled.

Just bad basketball by both teams but I was very disappointed in Holmes. They have no offensive flow and are lacking talent in a bad way.

 

Officiating was just absolutely and disgustingly bad for both teams. I know I have gotten on the refs in other threads, but there is no one that can say those refs did anything right in that game. There has to be a fix or find better than these guys. They should have to return their pay for last nights game.

As noted above, I also noticed when CovCath played Trinity that their dribblers seemed to hold their off arm out to ward off the defenders. I didn't think it was extreme enough to constitute a foul, rather it was just good coaching. Since that game, I've noticed this same technique gaining popularity in the college game.

Lacking talent? Undisciplined and out of control at times maybe, but they are in no way lacking of talent. It could be argued that they have 4 players that are within the top 15 in the entire region. Bolden, McClendon, Mullins and Avery are all capable of carrying the team and leading them in scoring on any given night. If you go by this one game then neither team appeared very talented. This game was evenly played with the exception of the very end and that had nothing to do with talent but had more to do with execution and discipline.

McClendon and Mullins will be 2 of the top 6 or 7 next year.

Bolden and McClendon are probably both top 3 guards in the region with the other in consideration being Pangallo. Mullins I consider to be a wing player and also one of the three best in the region. Avery is easily one of the top 3 bigs. Bolden, McClendon and Avery would all be top 10 players in the region and Mullins would fall probably in the 11-15 range. All 4 are probably the most athletic at their positions not that necessarily means anything in terms of wins and losses. I'll go on to say that I could see Mullins and McClendon both garnering some D2 and possible lower level D1 college interest before their time at Holmes is complete.

Definitely a reach saying 4. Avery has come a long way (apparently), and good for him... Take Bolden off this team and the Bulldogs are an after thought. They miss Chames and glover (I believe it was last year) in a big way. Holmes not nearly as good without those 2 IMO.

Any team that has 4 of the top 15 players in the region on it, shouldn't be getting smacked around by Mason County, who played Pendelton County closer. And, IMO Maclendon is a part of the hype machine that is the Bulldogs alum and highlight guys. Every team has to have a second best player and he is it, but without bolden Maclendon couldn't carry this team as bolden does/has.

Completely contradictory to your own $$ amounts that you assigned to these kids in the other thread.

 

You listed McClendan as the fourth best shooting guard ($2) and Mullins in a group as the fifth best small forward ($1). That puts both outside the top 15.

 

Based on your own $ amounts, Avery barely makes the top 15.

These are all guys who are top or near top on their team... To say you could take 3 off to add Maclendon, Avery, and Mullins is a reach IMO. And, I'm probably leaving some guys off.

Before the last two games Mullins was Holmes best player for a stretch. Rather than being untalented I think Holmes has multiple guys that can be the guy that carries them and sometimes they struggle to find their role. Sometimes the most talented teams are the hardest ones to mesh together unless they all buy in. I dont think Holmes has reached that point yet but they've definitely improved over the course of the season. They've regressed the last couple games but are still a team that nobody will want to see in the regionals.

Holmes has talent. No doubt. All teams have talent. I think you all are discounting Bolden too much!!! People don't fear this team AT ALL without him. Teams run doubles at him and have to worry about the help from both sides. Without that, these other kids don't get near the looks they currently get.
