Game was much closer than the score might indicate. Holmes was down 2 with around 2 mins left and Mullins travelled before making a jumper that would have tied the game.

Covcath got back to back possessions where they scored on back door cuts by CVH to extend the lead to 5 with 1:05 left and it ballooned to 12 with Holmes missing shots and Covcath making ft's the final 54 seconds.

One thing is for sure...if you're Covcath, you feel like you should have blown Holmes out with all the easy shots missed around the rim. If you're Holmes you're feeling like you let one slip away down the stretch with missed shots, free throws, and unforced turnovers.

Ugly game overall by both teams.

Question. Word has it that CCH players were told specifically to call HHS players inappropriate names BY the coaching staff as a way to 'get in their head'. If so it that what the school stands for? As a Catholic I really need to know if this is true and condoned by the administration. I would think tuition paying parents would have a problem with the CCH coaches doing such a thing. Trash talk by players is one thing, incited by coaching staff at this level of vulgarity is another. I don't care if I get banned for bringing it up. Is it acceptable ? Is it true?

Covcath is starting to get a reputation around NKY along with a couple of their players....that's no secret. Every team goes in to a match up with them expecting certain things because of this.

Not really a big deal, IMO. Kids do this on their own whether a coach tells them to or not. Just apart of the game these days, i guess. It's up to the players to keep their composure and not let it affect how they play.

I would guess you should ask the coaching staff to get the truthful answer.....

Did Coach L behave himself tonight or was he is "rage against the machine" mode?

Walter, if it's true what does that say about the school or administration? I really doubt the Bishop would condone such a thing for a minute. Sure is not a position on the moral high ground.

I have no clue if it's true or not...I like the Covcath coaches and think they do a great job with their players. Great motivators and you can tell the kids like playing for them.

But, opposing players and coaches who have gone against Covcath talk and most have the same opinion on how they play at both ends...

I was court side for the CCH/NCC game... Lucky me! When Pangallo was cramping, you could clearly hear things coming out of Andy Flood's mouth that were inappropriate. To a point of what I call "bullying" it upset me as I am a Cov Cath Grad (Class of 2002). And I know respect towards others was a very important topic.

Like Walter said. Unfortunately it's becoming a part of the game.

Coach l was getting some attitude from a few players..I'm sure it has to do with the fact that they were getting man handled.and not getting any calls.the refs let that game get out of control abd missed some crucial calls and called a few bad calls on Avery which took him out the game..the push in the back by schu was missed how I don't know the double foul imo was only called to please the fans because the initial call was on a Holmes player..before anything is said I don't have a horse in the race..just a fan that wanted to see a good game..

All, instead of the debate perhaps the CCH coaching staff and administration could make a statement. It's a big enough deal for the 'win with honor' crowd that they should step up settle the issue. These are minors that could be negatively influenced by people in authority.

I'm guessing Mr. McClendon will be resting during the first quarter of tomorrows game....

No game tomorrow...but I'm sure the coaches appreciate your guessing and concern.
