January 22, 201511 yr I saw this column in the Enquirer this morning and that is what leads me to ask the question. Doc's TML: Both Super Bowl coaches tough to like Belichick cheating is at the forefront of everyone's mind. Carroll destroyed one of the great franchises in college football with his cheating at USC. Who is worse? Who do you like less?
January 22, 201511 yr Not a shock, but I like both of them. If I were a player, they're the types of coaches, I'd want to play for.
January 22, 201511 yr Belichick, and it's not even close. I don't have a problem with NCAA athletes being compensated. Pete Carroll seems like a guy whose players like playing for him, and think that it's probably something that most all big time programs are doing too. Carroll is a life force at street level - Los Angeles Times"]Carroll also seems to have some redeeming qualities about him that I don't know that you really see with Belichick. Belichick seems like a fraud in regards to the whole "Patriot Way" thing. Let's be real, I don't think guys like Albert Haynesworth, Aaron Hernandez, LeGarrett Blount, and the like are very different than they were before they were Patriots, I just think that Belichick does a better job of controlling and hiding it. I believe the reports that he told Hernandez to get a "flop house" and lay low, and I don't think he did it out of concern for Hernandez, he did it solely out of concern for himself and the team. Finally, the NFL is a business, to be sure, but the way the Patriots go about some cap casualties just seems downright cold as well. Even if guys aren't playing for you, there are ways your organization can take care of them and keep them involved.
January 22, 201511 yr Not a shock, but I like both of them. If I were a player, they're the types of coaches, I'd want to play for. If I was a player Pete is the one I would rather play with. He has shown he can win at a high level, and the players probably enjoy playing more under him.

Doc's TML: Both Super Bowl coaches tough to like Belichick cheating is at the forefront of everyone's mind. Carroll destroyed one of the great franchises in college football with his cheating at USC. Who is worse? Who do you like less? I don't think Carroll destroyed USC. Shoot when he took over USC they had became a program that hadn't done much in a long time. He brought them back up to one of the top programs in college football during his time. USC was also kind of a victim of a very inconsistent NCAA with their rulings on things. The main thing that happened was that Carroll took them to the top of the mountain, and then with their penalties it took them back down to where they were when he took over. Belicheck's cheating has direct impact on trying to gain advantages in games. So I do think his was worst. As a fan of either program, I am sure the fans of both programs wouldn't trade a thing because of the memories they got because of it.
January 22, 201511 yr Author I see the cheating that happened under Carroll at USC being much worse for his program than the cheating under Belichick at New England.
January 22, 201511 yr I see the cheating that happened under Carroll at USC being much worse for his program than the cheating under Belichick at New England. Do you feel like the cheating that happened under Carroll was worse since the NCAA was a lot harder on USC than what the NFL did to the Patriots? If the NFL would have been harder on the Patriots for the spygate, would that have changed your opinion. I know the Bush thing while Carroll was there, but was there anything else? I really don't remember so if there was more you may get me to change my opinion. However with what the Patriots do, it has had an impact on games itself. Spygate stealing people's signals to gain an advantage. Then this ball deflategate thing. Even though it probably didn't matter in the game against the Colts. You have to assume that this was a common practice for them to do. So them do this could have had an impact on other games that were close.
January 25, 201511 yr I see the cheating that happened under Carroll at USC being much worse for his program than the cheating under Belichick at New England. Maybe the cheating was worse, but I look at it in terms of knowing that probably every big time NCAA football program on the same level as a USC, Florida, Alabama, Ohio State, whoever... they are probably all doing those things for some of their athletes that USC and Carroll did for Bush (and probably others as well). If other NFL teams are doing the same things as Belichick, I just wonder why you don't see more of them being caught and punished. This is the 3rd time there's been a pretty serious accusation levied against the Patriots, and that's not even counting some of the things that was being said about them in relation to the whole Aaron Hernandez fiasco (i.e., Belichick and team officials being warned about Hernandez's behavior, Belichick's suggesting he get a "flop house" and lay low there for awhile, etc.).
January 25, 201511 yr I'd rather play for Bill. He'd get the most out of me. Wilson, Sherman, and Lynch would like a word with you. Those guys, and countless others have become stars under Carroll. He gets a ton out of his players too. May even develop talent better.
January 25, 201511 yr I'm pretty sure most of the people on here saying how much they dislike both would somehow find it in their hearts to forgive either one of them if they somehow got to coach their team. If Belichick was fired by the Pats after the SB and Mike Brown hired him, would any Bengals fans be upset???
January 25, 201511 yr Belichick NFL Carroll NCAA We all know that 2000 yards rushing is a bigger deal in the NFL NFL Cheating > NCAA Cheating

SB Nation's Longform site has a great article about just this subject. I highly recommend it. Meet the Bag Man
