How many sweet 16 appearances does your school have?

Owensboro with 42 - most in the state

Interesting that they won both the basketball and football state championship in 1917. I read somewhere that one of the football players played for Center College when they upset Harvard. Quite the tradition there at Owensboro Sr.

And more state baseball titles than anyone tied with Manual!

GRChoops, do you know of a list of all time records for Winchester and/or Clark County basketball that would include 1.) season record and 2.) coach's name for each year? I wrote to the newspaper there some time ago and didn't get a response.

I do not.

This is what I used.

Basketball tournament scores, records and lists for districts, regions and state

My school, Owsley County, has never been to the sweet 16. They've been runner-up in the 14th Region twice: 1983 and 1985. The '83 team should gave been there but I'll have to lay that one on the officials who called the game, and that's something I rarely do. But in this case what happened that night was a shame. A small school like Owsley doesn't get very many teams with a chance to make it to the Big Dance, but that is one year our dreams were ended by the men in the striped shirts. That's a night I'll never forget.

On another note, the Owls have won the 14th Region All A four times. Made it to the Championship game before losing to University Heights in 1990, and made it to the semifinals in 2000.
