Fleming Co. coaching search

Featured Replies

In a public school, it is always the Principal's choice. Although at some schools, the AD, etc. do some screening and recommending.

Public schools don't ALWAYS work that way, there are other people above the School principal. A principal's choice isn't ALWAYS the best choice. Most applications are sent to the Board of Education and the AD. The AD has more knowledge of what is needed than a principal.

Fleming better let someone besides Sorrell pick a head coach. Sleepy Adams is the AD. Better get some input from him on this decision.

Why not let Sleepy Adams have a go at it himself? I think that might be a great fit at Fleming.

Speaking of Sleepy, will Chuck Adams be applying?

What about Robbie Graham? (Just kidding)

Adams would be OKay. Graham applying would send waves through the KHSAA, because of the transfer issue.

Are you being serious?

The site base council makes the decision, and then sends the recomendation over to the Superintendent.

No, I guess I should have clarified. I assumed it was understood that I was being sarcastic. Sorry about that.

I would hate to see Russell lose such a quality coach, but I believe Merle Kidwell would be a great choice for the Fleming Co. job. I know he wanted the Russell boys job when it was open, but he was passed over twice.

Merle would be a great pick. I'd hate to see him leave Russell but it would be a good opportunity.

Chuck Adams would be a good fit. Lets not get started on Graham

What is Chuck Adams currently doing?

Don't let the law get in the way of your passion. Whether you like it or not, in this situation or not, the Principal is in charge of that building and all aspects. Period. Schools that don't have the Principal clearly in charge have a problem.

True, but who normally chairs the Site Based Council? That's my only point. Failure to involve the Principal is not the way to go about getting coaches.

He is out in the western part of the state. He was at Todd Co. Central. I dont think he is coaching though. Maybe a Principal. I dont believe he is at Todd Central now though.

Or it could be like certain schools ( in the 4th region) and be ready to announce a head coach and have some parents complain and threaten a principal that their kids will leave, then they go another direction, cant mention what school but it has happened recently and probably more than we know!

I have been told that Wayne Breeden might be the frontrunner for this position.

The SBDM council votes it's a majority (check out the KDE website). The SBDM can have a chair other than the school principal if the need arises. The principal or chair may choose to believe they have the final choice, but the recommendation is made to the superintendent. Who can approve or reject. As far as not getting the principal involved was never the point. I think the consensus was not to leave it only to the principal. No man is an island unto himself. If you want to watch a school go down hill, let a principal lose the respect of the school. It takes everyone within a school to nake it run efficiently.
