July 27, 201511 yr Read The Circle by Dave Eggers. Meh. Fascinating idea. Lamely executed. It's essentially a dystopian future where a monolithic company loosely based on Google and Facebook monopolizes the internet. This monopolized internet starts off great - commerce is easier, comments are more civilized as people have to use their real identities, the government is more transparent, etc. But, then it drifts into unease. People's personalities are whittled down to "liking" everything and offering only pleasant banalities to conform. The company adopts the Orwellian mantra that "privacy is theft." Overall, these ideas give you a lot to think about. But, the characters Eggers creates are mostly shapeless. There are several plot lines that don't seem to account for anything other than as filler. The writing is a little forced and awkward in places and you get the sense he's just trying to get from point to point. And even as he does a fantastic job of evoking the readers' anxieties over the internet, surveillance, and privacy, he leaves more to be desired. I gave it a 4/5 on Goodreads, but it could have just as easily warranted a 2/5 or a 5/5, depending on which aspect you found most important.
July 27, 201511 yr Love this book!!! Delightful! Really enjoyed it! Now I will watch the movie. Baldacci is an EXCELLENT writer. Go go read this book! I've had this in my collection for a while just haven't gotten around to reading it. Maybe I'll make this my next one.
July 27, 201511 yr Maybe it is because I'm a little biased and have added a lot of posts about him myself, but I feel like David Baldacci might be our most read author according to the number of posts about him.

I got my answer, and what Coben said obviously made me think of you. :lol2: Here you go: Will you write another Myron Bolitar novel? There is an old Yiddish expression: Man plans and God laughs. So yes, I plan on bringing Myron back, but I really can’t say when. I won’t force it. When I finish a book, I am the emptiest of vessels. If the next story that comes to me will work for Myron, then he’ll tell it. If not, then he’ll stay silent. My guess is, Myron and the gang will return, but in a very different way. July 27, 201511 yr Author A little shoutout to us Myron fans. I'm on book 7, but I'm already getting sad as I near the end. It's a really, really good series. Coben's next book, slated for a March 2016 release (according to Goodreads), is not a Bolitar novel.
July 27, 201511 yr Pleasant "feel-good" story; similar to "Wish You Well". Only took 2 or 3 hours to read.
