December 29, 201411 yr At this point I would go with Romo as well. Hard not to with league leading QBR and second half/OT stats. Just a phenomenal year.
December 30, 201411 yr Was blessed to see Watt and Wilson on the field together as Badgers. Like them both very much. Would be thrilled to see either one of them win it. Of course, if I had a vote, it would be for Aaron.
December 30, 201411 yr This year no one has really stood out in my mind. I guess we could toss a dog a bone and give it to Watts
December 30, 201411 yr Ehh, he's probably #7 on my list. Didn't want to have multiple guys from one team. Went with Romo because when he was out, they looked terrible. When Murray was hurt/limited, they still trucked a playoff team. If that's your reasoning then Lynch should be ahead of Wilson. Because without Lynch Seattle doesn't score most of their points.
December 30, 201411 yr Romo Romo Romo !!!!! We are a totally different team with out him. He is our MVP and with his play after injuries/December combined with his league leading qbr who else is more deserving ?
December 30, 201411 yr Romo Romo Romo !!!!! We are a totally different team with out him. He is our MVP and with his play after injuries/December combined with his league leading qbr who else is more deserving ? Romo has had seasons that are statistically comparable to this season. Demarco Murray emerges as a major threat running the ball this season and that has had a major effect not only on the Cowboys' success but on Romo's success as well. A focus on Dallas to run the ball and to get more from Romo by having Romo do less shouldn't qualify Romo as more of an MVP candidate than Murray. I've always been a Romo apologist but he sholdn't be given the MVP just because he finally came through the month of December unscathed.

But I agree that he has had comparable seasons one maybe better. But the December stigma being ignored, playing through injuries and carrying the team during the mid to latter stretch sealed the deal for me. I also saw how pedestrian our offense looked with out him. Edited December 30, 201411 yr by bugatti
December 30, 201411 yr ........ Aaron Rodgers. Many guys had great years as evidenced by the number of posts with 6 and 7 deserving candidates, but I'll be SHOCKED if Rodgers isn't the winner.

December 30, 201411 yr What holds back Rodgers... It is hard to win on the road in the NFL, but the dropoff in production for the Packers is mind blowing when compared to how they are at home. Away games this season: At Seattle (held to 17 and blown out); at Detroit (held to 7 and manhandled); at Miami (scored 27 in last minute victory); at New Orleans (scored 23 and blown out by New Orleans who was a bad home team); at Minnesota (scored 24 and held on to 3 point win); at Buffalo (scored 13, Rodgers and crew were terrible); at Tampa Bay (NFL's worst team, struggled to score 20). Rodgers played well in only 2-3 of Green Bay's road games. Not all his fault, I understand, but the fact is the Packers' production was almost half of what it was compared to what they scored at home. Rodgers at home was around 3 TDs a game to 0 INTs. On the road, about 1.5 TDs to .6 INTs. Contrast that to Romo who was lights out on the road, I think it will resonate a lot with voters.

Seattle--Likely to repeat as SB Champs Detriot--Playoff Team New Orleans--Sunday Night game in the Superdome, hard to win. Minnesota--Green Bay AWAYS struggles against Vikings on the road. Buffalo--Terrific defense (that led the league in sacks), and a decent QB away from being Playoff team. Tampa--Won by 17. Same team Bengals beat by 1 on the road. How did Romo play at home? The same place he will be playing his playoff game? 14 Tds and 7 Interceptions with a 4-4 record.

It would be one thing if you are talking 1 or 2 games, but you are making justifications for 6 games and reasons such as "they always struggle with that team" or the "Bengals only beat them by 1" are not compelling. Basically, Romo was the reverse of Rodgers (he was 4-3 because did not play one game at home). Which is more impressive is up to the voters. I am not advocating for either, I am just pointing out that many are acting as if it should be a landslide for Rodgers and I do not see it that way.
