Did the US crash N Korea internet?

For technical dummies such as myself how would something like that happen?

 

A DDoS attack is what I've heard. In "Hacker School" it's basically the first thing you learn how to do. It's a denial of service where you overload the servers. Think Battleship: find the boat, then sink it.

From what I've seen and heard the internet crash was extremely widespread. It's been reported all 30 internet users in North Korea have been affected.

 

Just was listening to an NPR piece on the North Korean outage. They said, essentially, it's only the North Korean one-percenters who even have internet capability to begin with...so realistically, there was no business interruption to speak of, whereas a comparable outage in the United States would leave business losses tallying in the billions of dollars.

Our government did it to see if they could do this kind of thing and give reason to see if they could shut down a country like NK.
