She claims she was videotaping officers beating a man in handcuffs.

Also caught on film calling her a bad word that begins with a "b".

I really wonder if those officers knew that deleting evidence is a felony that can carry up to 7 years. I really doubt they had the awareness to realize that some people's phones automatically back up to iCloud or similar things.

Looks like someone's union rep is going to be busy.

IMO, the officers who drug her out of her car and tried to charge her with assaulting an officer (with her vehicle no less), charges that were immediately dropped, should also be held accountable for filing such bogus charges.

For people who complain about the cost of body cameras: this suit is asking for damages of $7 million. Take a few of these suits' payouts and if the money had initially been spent on body cameras, then the cost might be even less.

First off, I really wish people who decide to record something, anything, would learn to keep the camera STILL!!

Second, it seems like the issue wasn't her recording, it's she was at a stop light and the light turned green, and they told her multiple times that the light was green and she needed to move.

But she was more worried about recording than following the law.

Should she have either parked or kept driving? Sure.

Did she deserve what happened in the video? Absolutely not.

Are all cops bad? Of course not.

Are there some incredibly stupid police officers? I think we all know the answer to that question.

We can't be sure what she did as she wouldn't keep quiet for even a second and couldn't keep the camera straight.

Her saying multiple times "oh I can't record" or"don't tell me I can't record", her claiming she was taping them beat a man when there is evidence to support it, and know the ridiculous lawsuit amount, would lead many to beeline that she is lying about more than one or two things. Many would even say her claims that they deleted the video are even false as well.

Had she been on the sidewalk and not obstructing the flow of traffic, she may have a point.

They allegedly deleted evidence, right? They are afforded the same rights as anyone else would be when accused of a crime...correct?

How about a T-shirt that says "Comply" on it.

I agree. I think you meant to say there is NOT evidence to support it. On the tape, there is no evidence that the cops were beating him at all. She seemed to me to be trying to cause an issue by making a spectacle of herself. She wanted to be noticed IMO. That being said, I cannot believe the cops could not have handled the situation without tasing her.

Are there really still some police officers out there that haven't seen the news lately?

Are they not aware that every move they make is being closely observed, and many times recorded?

No matter the pressures of the job, haven't some determined that self control might be a good idea if they don't want to find themselves talked about on the nightly news in some sort of scandal?

I really don't get how stuff keeps happening. :idunno:

Only took four posts for it to be her fault...

I was awake and bored, so I was able to question the story quicker. ;)

She was told to move her car as the light was green, she refused, she kept saying things trying to get noticed. No one ever told her to stop recording. Yup, there were many things that she could have done to avoid what happened. The kicker, the ridiculous amount in the lawsuit.

Not sure how anyone can read what her allegations were, then watch the video, and not see things don't add up. And it's people like her who hurts people who have legitimate complaints.

It's been alluded to several times on here that cops are "allowed" to use excessive force when they feel threatened... Where was the threat? She wasn't resisting arrest by sitting in her car... So that idea is out the window. Was there a car behind her in traffic? If not, her sitting at the green light is pretty irrelevant. When she said she would move, she apparently couldn't because there were cops in front of her, so then she gets yanked out of the car.
