Big 12 needs to stop messing around and just add Houston and SMU (Houston and Dallas TV markets, respectively) and have a title game. If they really want to go nutty, add Marshall, UCF, Tulsa and Cincinnati and make a shuge onference that will likely do well in TV negotiations. They need a title game to avoid this type of controversy in playoff selection.

The only part of this that is solid is the one more game. That is hard to combat.

 

So you are refuting my argument by saying that OSU gets a boost because Indiana beat Mizzou? Huh? What? Ummm...no. Big 12 went 3-0 vs. the Big 10 this year.

 

ABSOLUTELY the Big 12 gets credit for beating the Big 10 head up...especially since the Big 10 conference champ BEAT NO ONE OF CONSEQUENCE in non-conference. If you want to make a playoff, then beat Va Tech- everyone else seemed to have no problem doing that.

This is a tough decision. The last 3 teams are stupid close. I think that any of them could get in and would deserve it, frankly. That won't stop me from playing devil's advocate, though.

I hate Ohio State and their actual resume is not as good as the two big 12 teams. However the eye test shows they are one of the best four teams in America. Which weighs more to me. So I would have Ohio State over the big 12 teams too.

1. FSU (defending undefeated champs - ACC Champs - still unbeaten, has to be #1)

2. Alabama ( #1 ranked, won sec west - SEC Champs - best coach in country)

3. Oregon ( unbeaten, PAC 12 Champs, have beaten the team that gave them only loss)

4. Oho State (bad loss early, 2 week after losing Heisman level qb - ran table since, BIG 10 Champs, bet coach in country w/ Saban,12 wins)

Winning a conference championship should count for something, hence OSU getting in the mix. And the Committee will not flip Alabama and Oregon.

Should your reward outright league champions over co-champions? That may be the out for the committee to pick OSU over Baylor and TCU.

Whats the saying - "Its not a sport if your fate is decided by judges on a panel."?

 

Applying this logic it could be that college football championship has slipped into this category with a set of judges deciding who is in and out.
